Lidster also has a great sense of humour and plays well when the kids want to play. Remember Trymakin's first NHL shift. It lasted like 10 seconds. Why you ask? Because Lidster kept telling him keep his shift short, just get out there and relax and enjoy it. Apparently he just kept reminding him, keep it short. When Trymakin got back to the bench he turned to Lidster and asked, was that short enough? Lidster cracked up. Tryamkin punked him on his first shift and he laughs it off. True story. The kid has a sense of humour. Lidster too.

Boy, our team would look pretty good if we had nothing but homegrown talent. :D

Interesting story on the personal stressors in Vey's life.

http://www.theprovince.com/touch/story. ... um=twitter

The skinny, his father and his father's mistress both charged with conspiracy to commit murder. They were planning to bump off their respective spouses, one of course being Vey's mother. Case has been going on since 2013. Trial could be this summer.

Kid has been dealing with some tough times but does not use it as an excuse.

Yeeesh, can we please give Linden Vey a bit of a break now?

If the plan is to let McCann and Virtanen spend some time in the minors next season, I could see a place for ol' Vey as a place-holder. He's a reasonably-productive forward, he had 14 points in 25 games from Jan-March, which was quite respectable. He's shown improvement year over year in almost all areas of his game, and still has some potential at 24.

Good post Esq. I am glad someone else also sees that Vey is not an utter and complete waste of skin, as some posters insinuate. He's turning into a serviceable 3rd line centre for a bottom half team (ding, ding!). Not big, not strong, but overall, he's ok. And, I think he has some up-side yet too. Maybe even just a cheap body to expose in the expansion draft.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!

Tough break for the kid, obviously you have to feel sympathy on a personal level, particularly because for a marginal NHLer a major years-long distraction at this age could play a part in ending his career in this league.

Sign him to a cheap one year deal and give him another chance. Make it one way if you're feeling charitable.. as long as he doesn't hit the cap if the team has to waive him. (Because if he can't contribute at the NHL level, unfortunate personal issues or not, he shouldn't be on the team.)

Very well said! It is a business and the whole team has to be considered.
A horrid thing to have to go through but with the right kind of support, he may well be OK.
The good thing is the alleged plans didn't happen...

It would be nice if he had more of his father's killer instinct.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Nice cherry picking of stats. He had 15 points in 41 games and two even strength goals the entire year despite getting gobs of icetime and a shitload of pp time. He gets murdered defensively and is about to turn 25.

That's just so bad it's funny!

I really don't see the upside of Vey at this point. We have too many players like him in the system. He made 1 million on a one way last year. The cost to qualify him is way more than he is worth. He didn't deserve the 1 M, he doesn't deserve a raise.

And he got a lot of PP time. You need a center that's willing to take and give the shit in front of the net...
