GM of the year? If there was such an award should Jimbro Benning be the runaway winner since most everyone, mostly Blob here, predicted the Canucks would be one of the worst teams in the league this year, post Sedin era? He’s got my vote

There is such an award:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_Gener ... Year_Award
Given the past recipients, I wouldn't have thought it would have much credibility with you, but it will be interesting to see how Benning does this year.

How many GMs win this award with a .500 record?Ronning's Ghost wrote: ↑Sun Feb 17, 2019 5:34 pmThere is such an award:

The season over? Wild card race over? If the Canucks manage to make post season the first season without the Sedins I see no reason why Jimbro should not get consideration. Drafting the Swedish Gretzky - Pettersson when nobody wanted him to, I included, should be enough to get him the recommendation for GM of the decade! If every team below them in standings continued at their current winning %, Canucks drop to 24-25 in league.RoyalDude wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 2:10 pmThe season over? Wild card race over? Is that a good team?
Never seen a GM get an award for finishing 24th in a league.
That’s is some rose coloured glasses you have on, does it come in virtual reality mode or 3D mode? Maybe you should watch porn with it, might do you some good to let your left hand have a go....

I like the job Benning has done but it’s not worthy of GM of the year.
The only HW the Canucks need
Re: The Great Jim Benning Debate! (And personal insult thread)
Agreed. Even if the team went out next game and played .800 hockey to end the year it's still a season where too many teams have under performed.
And let's be honest, the Canucks need to play at that level to hit 93 points, which would be tied for the third lowest points total to land a wild card spot since they went to the wild card system. Minnesota got in with 87 points in 2015/16, and Dallas got in with 91 in 2013/14. Other than that 94 points has been the minimum, and 95-97 seems to be the average league-wide.....the western conference seems to have been consistently lower by 2-4 points.
It's hilarious really. Minnesota sits in the final WC spot, a single point up on us and with one game in hand.....and they've been brutal, losing badly, and going 2-5-3 in their last 10 while we've gone 3-6-1. Had we actually stepped up and played even .500 hockey the Canucks would be 2 points up with more wins and holding the tie breaker in the even that Minnesota wins the game in hand that they hold. Everyone in the WC race coming out of the All-Star break sucked all at the same time, while teams that were looking to be tits up already have clawed their way into the mix and now it's a 5-horse race.....6 if Anaheim heats up, which they have the ability to do.

Good point, Jimmy's only hope is that they switch from a voting system... to a straight up IQ test.

This thread is bumping, like the Dude in the alley behind the Astoria with Rosey Rottencrotch's makeup mirror covered in blow while hiding out from Cst Anne Drennan.
