Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
Well, I guess people might lie sometimes, especially those in upper management positions in the NHLDonCherry4PM wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 2:06 pmThis may be true but, at the time, JB indicated that he thought Juolevi was BPA - I remember this because I was pretty thrown off at first but thought that if JB said Juolevi was BPA, there must have been something I was missing. Now he may not have been telling the truth when he said that but his stated position was different than what you are hypothesizing.Hank wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 11:38 am Also, it's very reasonable to assume management looked at the bare cupboards and lack at every position and waivered from BPA. With JV and Brock already in the system, do you grab another winger or try to fill up in much more dire positions like centers and defencemen with your 1st round pick?
How many GMs don't justify their picks immediately after a draft? Or even those in the media? They all throw out a bunch of superlatives and say this guy is exactly what this franchise needs, we're happy he was still on board, blah blah blah...
As a fan, you just hope most of your prospects turn out to be productive NHLers and are able to play X number of games... despite the stats that say percentage-wise, very few of the picks in each draft will ever turn out this way.

Destroyed my ACL playing football many many moons ago.
Reached close to 230 before I was able to work out again.
I've got the massive train-tracks scar to prove it.

It’s scary that a guy can fuck up his knee being the punter or a long snapper.Strangelove wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 3:33 pmDestroyed my ACL playing football many many moons ago.

Cornerback. I know you'd never suspect it Blob, but I had a mean streak and it served me well.

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
Doc when you and your fellow Clark park maniacs all packed into the dodge charger and cruised downtown to terrorize the innocents with Foghat 8-trank cranked what was the standard route of the trail of horrors? Down Clarke to Terminal, Terminal down to Main, Main down to Hastings, was it at Hastings where they disorderly mayhem started?

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
Soooo....
Was just thinking about the Canucks needs at LW and RD and if the Canucks can expect any help with their first round pick in the coming draft.
And I’ve concluded this draft sucks for filling the Canucks biggest needs.
Here is the latest ranking from SN:
https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/juniors ... -february/
There are no right side defensemen ranked in the top 16, all the D shoot left.
There is only one left winger ranked in the top 16:
8. Matthew Boldy, LW, USNTDP, 6-foot-1, 187 pounds: Super skilled, not quite at his best at the U18 Five Nations, but he’s built a solid resume all season long based on an amazing set of mitts.
And odds are only 1 in 16 the Canucks will get him.
Obviously there are great prospects in the draft, but they likely won’t fill the Canucks greatest needs, so that leaves the Canucks with trades and FA signings to fill those needs, which is not where the Canucks have gotten their best players.

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
My targets outside of the top 5 - Hughes, Kakko, Podkozlin, Cozens, Byram. They will be gone by the time we draft
Krebs
Boldy
Zegras
Turcotte
Broberg
Newhook
Have to draft best player available. Positional needs are not jiving for us with the exception of Boldy. Krebs can be converted to LW.
Stay away from Dach, Suzuki, Lavoie
