As expected Tryamkin and Hutton don't need to protected in the expansion draft, they be safe homies & homettes.

Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

A minimum of two forwards and one defenceman must be exposed who have played 40 games the previous season, or a total of 70 over the previous two. There is also a requirement that the 40/70 players are under contract for the first expansion season.
Good thing we've got Sbisa and Dorsett. If the draft is held next year, Burrows wouldn't count.

Players holding no-movement clauses – including those modified by limited no-trades, such as Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury – count against the protection limit, provided that those contracts and clauses extend through the 2017-18 season.
Teams like Chicago, Columbus etc, are in trouble...

Teams will also be permitted to ask players to waive their no-movement clauses for inclusion in the expansion draft.
Players with two years of professional experience or less will be exempt from the process. Determining who that covers is based on the definition included in the collective bargaining agreement – meaning that 10 games played in the NHL at age 18 or 19 counts as a season, as does any American Hockey League or NHL season for players older than that.

Also:

"Teams cannot reacquire any player traded after Jan. 1, 2017, prior to Jan. 1, 2018. This is to prevent teams from entering arrangements to “hide” players from the expansion draft. There will likely be a lot more guidelines as part of this rule."

Also:
Current clubs will also have to offer a goaltender who’s under contract for 2017-18 or an RFA-to-be in 2018. Of the 30 players selected, at least 20 must be under contract for 2017-18. There is a minimum per position. For example, the new entry/entries must pick at least three goalies.
There will be a guaranteed spot in the draft lottery for four years.
... even if Vegas wins the Cup!!

Well there is a reason to extend Miller for at least a year, without a NMC.

I'd rather see them sign a veteran backup for cheap than bring back Miller at his bloated salary. And it's doubtful he'd sign just to be exposed in an expansion draft.

The only way Miller gets claimed is if they expand to 40 teams.

#Brilliant easy peasy, and who knows if he has kids/family, but Bachman would prob appreciate that stability as a career minor leaguer for the next couple years.

40 teams? Cool!

And, tonight's featured C.B.C. Hockey Night in Canada game is:

The Port Alberni Tsunamis vs. The Charlottetown Sea Lords!

Starting at 7:30 pm pacific and, well, real late back there...... :P
