2015 Canucks RFA's
I 'spose this could belong in the "Off-season" thread, but given the vast number of RFA's this club must address this summer, I thought we could follow it here.
Even before Bennings youth infusion began, management would be faced with a long list of prospects who's contracts expire.
Up front:
Baertschi Vey McMillan
Kenins Friesen Grenier
Zelewski Conachar
Blueline:
Stanton Weber
Corrado Clendenning
Andersson
Crease:
Markstrom
Eriksson
Cannata
Draft picks not yet signed:
Jordan Subban
Patrick McNally (does he return to Harvard for a final season?)
Miles Liberati (Has he done enough to garner an offer)
Bubble players: (pending group IV UFA's)
Darren Archibald
Brandon Defazio

Well if Matt O'Connor chooses us then you can delete one name off that goalie list, at least.
Maybe they send him to Utica to practice with the team

Does anyone have any info on why Subban hasn't signed? Is it $$$ or what? Pretty sure he was a later round flyer of a pick, so usually those guys dont get max ELC's....
Maybe he doesn't want to play in the West?

I think he should be blacklisted

I see the dark clouds have rolled into town about this subject.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

This is bad news. He could be a future lynch pin for the organization.
Every time I look out my window, same three dogs looking back at me.

And your whitty responses to the thread is why I keep coming back to this thread
Looking at the RFA's it seems to me they hold more value than an impending UFA or Old Vet.
Who makes room for a waiver eligible RFA at the expense of a vet? Even if Mattias and Richardson walk.

Long time, Cookie.
To answer your question:
On the blue line, Clendenning and Corrado will be hot on the heals of Stanton and Weber. But one of the vets will likely be moved before next year. I know Corrado is an RFA, but is he waiver eligible? Can't recall.
Up front. McMillan, pfft, waiver wire fodder. Baertschi is having a strong playoff in Utica, he should be a lock for next year which in all likelihood makes Jensen expendable (bordering on bust). Grenier is also waiver eligible. A classic late bloomer in Junior, he's really come on in this, his third year pro. He might get a long look in September, but he's a fairly one-dimensional player, and may not be counted on as a checker. Could slip through waivers and be a career minor leaguer.
Should be an interesting summer, at the very least.

If the twins could harness his talent he could win a Sulky Trophy though it is more likely he ends up jockeying for position on the lawn or monkeying around on the porch.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Re: 2015 Canucks RFA's
The Subban camp believes, that given the season he had, his value is higher than his draft order. They want max rookie contract. They believe if he re-enters the draft he will be a late 1st round or high second round pick. At least that is their position. They also feel Subban has a better chance of being drafted by a team that provides him with a better chance of making the NHL sooner.
Canucks don't share that view. But I am hearing that since it will be a two way deal the Canucks are likely to increase their offer as they don't expect him to be NHL ready in any event so there will be no impact on the cap this year. Don't rule out his rights being traded before the draft though.

I wonder whether this is what the agent thinks or Subban himself. If it is the agent's idea, I am not sure he has his client best interest in mind. Seriously, would any GMs offer JB a second rounder for Subban? I highly doubt.Hockey Widow wrote:The Subban camp believes, that given the season he had, his value is higher than his draft order.
