Breaking News: Canucks come to terms with two

The Vancouver Canucks will soon announce new contracts for two pending UFA. Both Derek Dorsett and Shawn Matthias have agreed to new deals. Benning wanted these deals done before the end of the season and it looks like he has made it happen. I don't have the full details yet, expect an official announcement some time today.

I am hearing both are five year deals, and both have modified NTC. Hearing Matthias deal is around 25 million, Dorsett around 20 million. Exact numbers to follow.

In addition to the league announcing that they have awarded us the first over all pick in 2015 in recognition of how poorly they have treated us, they have also announced that Vancouver has been awarded 10 million extra in cap space for the duration of the Luongo contract. As well, the cap recapture for Loungo has been grandfathered in effective immediately.
