Just like we didn't know who Tanev was before he played on the big team we have no idea on the guys down there until they get a chance to play.

Always fun to watch people who never saw a kid play say if he will or wont make the NHL based upon his size or the posters perception of the player. We will never know who will come up until they are given a chance, even guys in the first round don't make NHL teams yet guys from 6th or 7th round for 10+ years in the NHL.

I don't know enough about any of our D prospects to bet on any of them. I just have hope that somewhere 1-2 of
them make it, at some point. And I could live with a Franson signing, just saying not at 5-6 per and not as long as we have all of Bieksa, Stanton and Sbisa

Of course if Corrado doesn't pan out then that changes my plans  trade him or let him walk. The good part of Bieksa being hurt is that Frankie should get the ice time and games in to show his stuff. I guess we will all have a better idea at the end of the year.
The only HW the Canucks need

Spizza was a cap-dump who we will walk away from this summer.

Yeah, I don't care if "Benning said" different. ;)

Corrado is not going to walk into the NHL and play Top 4 minutes effectively for 8 weeks while Bieksa's out.

It took Tanev 100 NHL games before he could do that.

Stanton can't do it after 100 NHL games.

Weber is still trying to do it 200 NHL games later.

Sbisa is still trying to do it 300 NHL games later (I said "effectively").

We have 4 guys on the roster to replace KB3's minutes

... Sbisa, Stanton, Weber, and Corrado.

None of them are able to do that, going by present observations + data.

LS Sbisa (plays the most minutes of the lot) is bad enough when he's asked to play the role of LS Top 4.

We need to replace a RS Bieksa.

Contrary to the popular delusion in Canuckdom of late

... Frank Corrado is not Superman.

And this is super-optimistic Strangelove speaking here!

Everyone knew coming into this season that we were in trouble with an injury to our Top 4.

Well we were around .500 with Hamhuis out.

With Bieksa out it should be about the same

(yeah I know most Nuckers are like "NO WAY, Hamhuis >>> Bieksa, we'll be fine").

HW, this is one of those times where Strangelove is right and everyone else is wrong. :D

IF we go .500 with Bieksa out, we probably miss the playoffs.

If I were GM of the Canucks right now I'd tell the media something like...

"We still have 7 NHL defensemen and I have every confidence in every one of them

... we're not going to go out and get a defenseman"

Then I'd probably hype Corrado.

Then I'd get on the phone and try to complete one of those many sorta-on-the-table deals for a dee.

A RS dee.

Yeah, if I'm the GM of the Canucks, I know the prime directive is to make the playoffs.

And yeah, as an NHL GM, I tend to bullshit in the press a lot.

Can you imagine if, while KB3 is out, one of Edler/Tanev/Hamhuis goes down!!

Buh-bye playoffs FOR SURE and a kick in the nuts from Aquaman is wut.
