Leaves fans on twitter are choking their chickens over two Finns they got at 59 and 64 after getting those picks in a trade with Ottawa who received the 44th. One is 5'9" 164 lb while the other is 6' 163 lb. They think they fleeced the Sens by getting the Finnish heavyweights.

Hilarious!

For years Leafers have been suggesting Bracco has huge trade value.

"A future star for sure" they'd say as they offered him straight up for established #4 dmen.

They long held similar dreams of Gauthier.

They'll probably yet re-sign Rodrigues (qualifier too high) for the bottom 6.

Lmao!

Just read a headline:
“Maple leaves UFA Splash”...

Uh, did anyone tell them they signed an aging 3rd line veteran on a 1 year rental contract??

Douchebaggery 101 right there!

Toronto sports media, pretty soon you will see the write up how these deals have now made them cup contenders, that is until they play the first round of the playoffs.

Sportsnet [The Toronto Maple leaves have signed forward Jimmy Vesey to a one-year, $900,000 contract, the team announced Sunday.
The 27-year-old recorded 20 points in 60 games for the Buffalo Sabres last season.
In 304 NHL games with the Sabres and New York Rangers, the former third-round pick has collected 110 points./quote]

.
"Can the leaves go from not winning a round to winning the Cup?"

^Headline on TSN right now.

Every year the eastern media cranks up Leaves' expectations.

I love it, it increases the pain of failure so much more. :D

Tuna must’ve been devastated by the Leaves 4th straight knock out in the first round? He’s never been absent this long
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

The Leaves did not get knocked out in the first round of the playoffs, they lost in the playINS.

The Leaves did not make the playoffs.

And by my reckoning they'll be even worse this season. :D

I figure Leaves must be trying to dump Kerfoot for cap space... it won't be easy.

Everyone knew the guys who had to leave in the name of cap space were Kapanen, Johnsson, and Kerfoot.

(mostly because Kyle We Can And We Will Dumbass won't trade any of the Fab Four)

Kapanen had the most value, so he was the first to go.

Johnsson was second to go, they had to sell low on him after missing half the season with a knee injury.

But Kerfoot has the least value of the three because he sucks covid balls and is overpaid, so the receiving team has leverage.

That's a lot of speed coming out of Leaves' bottom 6... replaced by plodding oldtimers.

Hopefully the arbitration ruling on Mikheyev tomorrow is close to $2M, which would give other teams even more leverage.

(most Leaves fans think Mikheyev will come in around $1.3M)

They still have Dermott to re-sign as well...

EDIT: Leaves and Mikheyev just avoided arbitration, agreeing to a 2 year deal at $1.65M per, he'll be UFA when it's done.
