I can understand why you don't enjoy being bounced around the boards.

Yep first team in NHL history to get "a UFA with no assets spent to acquire him".
A young top 4 D who is a RH shot. VERY hard to get. That's all we heard this year.

Actually what we heard is "It's hard to get a good RH-shot dee"

Zaitsev is a MINUS 22 dee... and he got worse as the season wore on (minus 6 in his last 8 games!)

Also, he never looked the same after coming back from that concussion (his fear was palpable).

He is said to be an "offensive defenseman"

... and yup he played all season on the league-best #1 PP unit

... yet he scored less goals-per-gm than penalty-killer fringe-NHLer Roman Fucking Polak!! Image

Can you say "overpaid"...

He had 36 points as a rookie. That's terrific. Why are you cherry picking stats like GPG for a D-Man?

Before coming to the Leaves, he played 7 years in the KHL making big bucks as a seasoned pro.

(what you see now is what you're gonna get)

Because I'm an asshole? :look:

Fourth among Leaves dee this year in the GPG department and he was a mainstay on the #1 PP.

Four measly goals!

I smell a bet coming this summer. :mex:
How did that work last year?
I've never made a bet with you (2nd time I've had to remind you of that) :scowl:

But the guy who did has been in this thread twice in the last 2 weeks to talk to you about it.
I've been away....but yeah I think that's a bet worth taking. We will reassess after the long Summer - which actually isn't going to be all that long the way this current weather is keeping on. Although is there a point betting if you don't even collect when you win? Last call Tuna. I'm not going to keep wasting board space and people's reading time. I can't wire you $20 if I don't have an email for you. It's not like you have to worry about me signing you up for the NAMBLA email list... I mean, you're probably already on it. right?

The Pens are about to win the cup with the worst defense in NHL history by far. You still want to claim the way to win is by building through your D?

I can't think of too many teams in the history of the NHL who drafted a franchise center like Malkin at 2nd overall, and then followed it up the next year with the best player in the world at 1st overall, who also happens to be a center. Fewer still have been able to keep them for this long in a cap structure.

And, while Pittsburgh D is not elite, they are steady.....and their goaltending has been very elite. Which brings me to my next point, nobody said "build through your D", they said build from the net out, and if I recall correctly, that philosophy starts with the goaltending and then the next key piece is your first line center.....the Pens have 2 of those.

I don't necessarily subscribe to that philosophy myself as it has not been proven in recent years.....but at least troll honestly if you must indeed troll.

Oh yeah, and even though he's injured, Kris Letang says hello.
