Not for next season, That's how this discussion started. You think Barrie and Muzzin are gone because there's no $. Wrong.
Lol, $26 million in cap space with 12 players on the roster for 2020/21.

Names without contracts for 20/21:
Marner
3rd-line center Spezza
a Fourth line
All defencemen not named Rielly
A backup goalie

So that's $26 million to sign half of a hockey team. With virtually no prospects in the pipeline. And no first round pick next year.

Face it Toons, the window is closed. Even getting Barrie at half-price isn't enough to keep it pried open another year.

:eh:

We're talking about the 2020-21 season obviously.

Are you still saying Leaves will have $26-$30M?

Cuz that just plain crazy talk.

(btw for which season were you talking about $26-$30M cuz you just quoted yourself saying it)

(and are you still neglecting to count Marner?)

At least one of Barrie/Muzzin/Nylander will have to walk in 1 years time.

There are strong rumours that Barrie ($8M) wants to explore free agency.

Muzzin is getting older/slower but will likely still want $6M.

And the Cock loves him so he will push to re-sign him.

The Cock will no doubt also fall in love with Ceci the Horrible too!

Leaves will probably re-sign Muzzin + Ceci, trade Dermott and let Barrie walk

... all just to keep the Cock happy and squeeze under the cap.

Doc - as of right now only if Marner takes $10M or less can they sign him. I am sure they can wiggle another 100 grand or 3 but if Mitchy wants $11 or $12 bye bye TO. Even at $10M it does not leave much for injuries, no?

At that point the Leaves could trade Johnsson/Kapanen

... and replace with yet another AHLer.

The Leaves are losing a lot of depth as they burn in Cap Hell. :mex:

As for Marner, my view from afar is that it’s probably close to or at the point where TOR hopes an offer sheet is tendered. That would allow/force closure, one way or the other. Match the offer sheet or take the compensation, but it would be done.
The great Bob McKenzie says Leaves fans should praying for a Marner offer sheet at this point.

Thoughts Tuna? :mex:

But Bob McKenzie says you should get on your knees and pray Marner signs an offer sheet.

Should they give up a 1st to dump their big bad contract like your Leaves did?

Should they dump their entire 3rd line and three 20+ minute dmen like your Leaves did?

Oh wait, they don't have to resort to such desperate measures...

Leaves are gonna miss the playoffs buddy, time to get off the bandwagon.

Leaves got worse this off-season, Canucks got better...

- A first for old man Muzzin 31 next February, (UFA next summer)
- A first to get rid of Marleau
- Kadri for Barrie (UFA next summer, wants an $8x8 contract next summer
- lose Brown to get rid of Zaitsev for Ceci (UFA next summer)

The future looks dark for the Toronto Tea Leaves (smallest team in the league). Oh and Tavares turns 29 in September and Matthews will be playing in Arizona when he’s 26

Connor Brown was knocked here many times. Now he' some big loss?

Drop the Arizona fantasy. Matthews wants to win. Toronto will offer him a crazy contract a year before and he'll sign it,

How the hell does Toronto have more cap space than Vancouver after Horton is placed on LTIR?

Don’t stress, you got him for 5 seasons, he will be in Arizona after those 5 seasons and Tavares will be 34 years old going on 35.
