Yes what a "Disaster" the leaves are. A core of Andersen, Rielly, Matthews, Marner, Tavres, Nylander, Barrie, Muzzin with Sandin and Lilljegren soon joining is terrible.

A ten player core is not maintainable, and a ten player group is not a core.

Toronto traded Verhaeghe for Grabner? LOL

Verhaeghe looks like a player with Tampa!!

BUT, remember. Austin practically wanted to shoot the 88 ball in a different pocket but for fear of scratching, he didn't. Yet. Image

Wasnt that the same "core" that got bounced AGAIN in the 1st round? AGAIN!

Guess what the future holds...AGAIN!

Tavares, Matthews, Marner, Reilly, Andersen.

Committing beyond that as "core" is pure folly. As it stands those 5 guys account for half of their total team cap hit.

Hilariously Toronto currently has over $94M in salary on the books.....that's $9M more than the next team on the list. And that's with a 22 man roster!

How is it that they can have that much tied up and still have 6 forwards, 5 defensemen, and a goalie, needing new deals? None of said forwards are making even $1M, and only 2 of the defensemen make over $3M.

They are SO boned.

Muzzin and Barrie to be replaced with AHL’ers. Not good for a team going all in for the cup

Until your team beats our team on 1 March your collection of wimps and 'me-firsts' are not better than our team, and no amount of stat-pointing will change that.

Vancouver could be on a 20-game unbeaten streak, and the Toronto Sports Network and LeafsNet will be obsessing over the latest Bitch-Marner-with-a-cute-kitten pic. That's life when the sports media landscape has been skewed so towards one city - and Torontonians wonder why everyone else in Canada would dance a jig if the GTA was wiped off the map.
The national media give plenty of regular season coverage to the laughs because thats all theyve ever known...unless you go back to the black and white/foster hewitt/buy war bonds/1 in 6 chance because there were only 6 teams/appollo 11 moon mission era then you wont find any post season coverage except for the annual post mortem of their annual collapse

Its sad. I wonder if they could get unicef to make a donation box and collect for suicide awareness in the GTA area every april?
Somehow I get a feeling this is not referring to Grand Theft Auto... :hmmm:

Chef Boi RD wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2020 4:36 pm So what’s the word on Muzzin and Barrie as they approach their UFA retirement contracts this July?
I don't think either are coming back. They have Rielly, Holl, Lilljegren, Sandin signed and Dermott is RFA with 13 million in cap.
A trade for 1 more Dman will likely happen.

Leaf fans hear every year LLeafs are doomed and everyome is leaving. No worry here.
Liljegren and Sandin have played in the AHL all season and both are 5’-11” 185 lbs. Are you replacing two cagey vets with those two?
Did you see Sandin at the World Juniors? He's NHL ready. Brilliant on the power play with tape to tape passes and a lethal shot through traffic.
Sure, he'll do his share of rookie mistakes, kids sometimes forget to play it safe, but hey - I'd want him on my team any day.
Too bad he ended up in Toronto... I still feel sorry for Salming and Sundin never getting a fair shot at a cup. :look:

You're a moron. You identify 6-7 core pieces and then build around them. You fon't give 4th liners 3 million per for 4 years.
