Yeesh. Come back from work, have dinner, put the kids to bed and still not a peep about Pearn getting hired. You guys must be in comas about now.
The only question in my mind was, 'What took everybody so long?' I think it was an obvious eventuality considering there were rumours about him signing on almost right after Willie got hired.
I like the hire. Pearn knows his stuff and has been around the block a couple of times. He comes with a pedigree of being able to develop young players and is good with tactics. I mean, the powerplay couldn't get any worse than last year, right?
Question is, how are they going to fit all these guys behind the bench, or who gets to sit in the loft?
At the very least, it's something else to talk about besides prospects, lineups and flaming Betafish.

Re: Perry Pearn named to the Coaching staff
Boston Canucker mentioned it in passing earlier today.
Hard to get excited about this hiring.
Wasn't he the PP coach for the Jets
... who dumped him because their PP was as bad as "ours"?
@BradZiemer·2 mins
Pearn says he is not expecting to be lead assistant with #Canucks. May in fact watch most games from up top.
Don't we have about a dozen or so coaches now?

I guess if they have the ability to spend money that isn't cap constrained, they're going to spend it - which I can't argue with. Hopefully another good addition for the Medicine Hat Canucks.Strangelove wrote:Don't we have about a dozen or so coaches now?

No, he used to coach the team. In fact he coached it long before Willie did, and was a hell of a lot less successful.Strangelove wrote:Oh is that it?BurningBeard wrote:Hopefully another good addition for the Medicine Hat Canucks.

One year, 94-95 season, as head coach of the Tigers. I guess that them there is a the key prerequisite.
Willie:
"He brings experience, No 1. He has been around for a while. He knows all the players in the league and I think that's really important."
Taking over some of the duties left by Darryl Williams.Hockey Widow wrote:Looks like he will get press box duty, not at he bench. Eyes in the sky guy.

Wasn't Williams strictly video?BladesofSteel wrote:Taking over some of the duties left by Darryl Williams.Hockey Widow wrote:Looks like he will get press box duty, not at he bench. Eyes in the sky guy.
Not sure.
Cooper is the new video coach right?
I think Pearn specializes in PP coaching.
I could be wrong in any/all of this of course.
Maybe Pearn uses a lot of video in his PP coaching.
I only discuss these things because I want everyone to think of me as a Real Fan.

It has been said that Gully will run the PK and Willie and Pearn will jointly run the PP, for now.Strangelove wrote:Wasn't Williams strictly video?BladesofSteel wrote:Taking over some of the duties left by Darryl Williams.Hockey Widow wrote:Looks like he will get press box duty, not at he bench.
