Canucks second line - 2014-2015?

Post by Zamboni Driver »

What does the second line look like come training camp?

Does Horvat step up into the role? Does Santorelli come back? Or are we throwing buckets of money at a UFA? :?

I think Bonino will be given that spot unless they get a UFA center which I doubt.
I would like to see them take a run at Brian Boyle for the second line.
I would also be intrigued with Vanek on the first line, but I doubt we will choose to pay his price.
I would like to see a couple more of last year's players traded and some kids take their spots.

We won't know much more until we see what happens with further trades and whether or not Burrows is traded.

Right now I think it looks like.....

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
UFA - Bonino - Kassian
Higgins - Horvat - Hansen
Sestito - Richardson - Dorsett

I would like to see Higgins and Hansen traded and a first and third line of.....

Sedin - Sedin - Jensen
Shinkaruk - Horvat - Burrows

Benning has apparently stated that he sees the acquisition today, Vey, likely being able to be slotted in as a 3rd line ctr. (read this over at TSN). So your third line will likely have Mathias and Vey; who knows who the other winger will turn out to be?

Horvat 'might' be slotted in as the 4th line ctr... guess we'll see in time.

I think you got it right though for the second line.

Gonna take a wild guess and say we get a mid tier UFA - Moulson.

14/15 2nd line

Moulson - Bonino - Jensen
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Two or more players still need to be traded away. Guys not named Sedin, who don't fit the 'meat & potatoes' mould.
Less Canucks embarrassment please.

poutine does not count as potatoes, gnocchi however, does
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

No chance, Horvat is out for more seasoning. Richardson is on that 4th line. No way should Bo be a 13th forward, he needs to play.
This should make things interesting in camp, Mathias can play wing as well. Essentially, Vey will battle him for the 3 spot. We'll have to see how July 1st plays out.
Perhaps if no top 6 Ufa is signed, Bo plays wing on the 2nd line. Matthias can also slot in there.
I think the 4th line is already solidified. I like it.

I'd guess Hansen is out to free up the 3rd line and even more cap space to fill that 2nd line LW spot.

I want Burrows traded as well to make way for Jensen, he'll have a learning curve this season but should be more sound as the season progresses, he played well in his late season callup one of the only bright spots in sporadic bursts with some ugly plays, but hey he's a rookie, that's what they do sometimes and he was pissed about it when it happened, so he knows and is learning on the way to not to get too fancy and make junior like plays.

Sedin Sedin Kassian
Moulson Bonino Jensen
Matthias Vey Higgins
Sestito Richardson Dorsett

The other possibility is landing a big fish like Stastny (not like we don't have the cap space) and Bonino plays wing (like he often did in Ana).

That'd be killer, that's definitely in the retool fast on the fly category.
