See I thought Torts came off as a total phony in his interviews.
But then wtf do interviews really tell us anyway. This is hockey, not aerospace engineering. Claude Julien and Darryl Sutter come off as legitimately retarded in their interviews and they're both obviously pretty good at coaching.
I like what he said about winning in different ways depending on the team they play - speaks to me of versatility and adaptability in how he will have the team play. Something Vigneault still has a hard time doing.
Said everyone about Gillis too... and the former player agent turned out to be one of the biggest boldshitters we've ever seen around these here parts.

Wonder if Willie fires Gulutzan? he didn't exactly give him the best vote of confidence today.

Didn't sound like an endorsement, very non committal. Said he Trevor and Jim will work on that and get the best fit overall.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

You were absolutely right - he was a phony. About halfway through the season it seemed like Torts had no idea what he was doing.
It's definitely hard to judge a guy off of one interview on TV. To me Willie looked like a guy I'd be happy to work with.
AV was always pretty retarded in his interviews too.
"We're going to work real hard. We're playing a real good team there. *sucks fucking lozenge* Our guys are going to be real focused. We're real determined. *sucks fucking lozenge again* Fo real."
Sutter and Julien clearly have had wayyyyyyy too many concussions.
Count me as surprised when Torts begged off prospects camped but stunned to learn he didn't attend all the practices nor had any contact with Utica coaching, at all, none!
The guy loved the smell of his own shit and his behaviour certainly suggested he felt it was beneath him to deal with anything other than a few practices and game days. Add to that, now as word continues to leak out, how dramatically he alienated almost the entire team.
Looking forward to see what Willie can accomplish this season.

Ditto for me. That's simply incredible that you could think that would be a successful coaching model in today's NHL. I get having a veteran team, but if you're going to have brain aneurisms after a bad shift, you'd better have been there at practice all week.
