UFAs, RFAs, WTF-ehs?

Post by Southern_Canuck »

No Brainers
Zack Kassian (RFA) (can't give up on the huge upside potential)
Chris Tanev (RFA) (solid, if unspectacular, right-handed D - must sign)
Joe Cannata (RFA) (good second half in Utica, Canucks are a bit thin on prospect goalies)
Peter Andersson (RFA) (Inconsistent performance in AHL, but good enough to earn more chances)
Darren Archibald (RFA) (showed enough to compete for bottom 6 in NHL)
Brandon de Fazio (RFA) (speedy, sparkplug AHL player for Utica)
Mike Santorelli (UFA) (great, energetic performance before injury, wants to be in Vancouver)
Alex Biega (UFA) (probably best defenceman in Utica in 2013-14)
Benn Ferriero (UFA) (solid offensive performer in Utica)
Pascal Pelletier (UFA) (top veteran offensive contributor in Utica)

On The Bubble
Jordan Schroeder (RFA) (Only 23, but probably hasn't shown enough offence for such a small player)
Zac Dalpe (RFA) (meh)
Yannick Weber (RFA) (makes a lot of defensive mistakes, but is right-handed and has shown some offensive flair)
Jeremy Welsh (UFA) (plays bottom 6 role, but without offence or a lot of toughness)

Good Bye
Yann Sauve (RFA) (concussion was the beginning of downward trend)
Andrew Alberts (UFA) (big but slow, and now injury prone and 32)
Colin Stuart (UFA) (last year's captain of Utica, but Comets/Canucks might be better signing Cal O'Reilly who came into Utica and showed better veteran offensive potential)

It's a great day for hockey!

I know a lot can change from now till July 1st, but any free agents interest u? Pretty slim pickings this year. I'm thinking maybe Steve Downie, Daniel Winnik or David Bolland up front might help us. Bolland will probably get some nice offers though, which might be too rich for us. On D, Matt Greene would bolster our blueline with some muscle and might compliment our group nicely. I dunno, not much of the impact player category.

As far as the Canucks goes, re-signing Tanev and Kassassian are no brainers. I would like to try to keep Santorelli and Y. Weber, if we can sign them to low budget contracts. Magic Mike might get some nice offers though.

I think I would also say good bye to Schroeder. See if someone will trade a 5th or 6th round pick for his rights. At least try to get something in return for him as I don't ever see him becoming a Marty St. Louis.

With his constant brain farts, it will be hard for coaches to notice. I like his physical play, but, if we do not re-sign him, it is not a loss.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!
