I'm not convinced the Canucks will go with that tandem next year. Far too green.
I believe Markstrom was dealt because he's the best prospect the Canucks could get from FLA - they weren't giving up Bjugstad, Petrovic etc. I believe the plan is to sign a Halak / Hiller type as a 1A and then deal one of Lack or Markstrom

I agree. If we're going to rebuild, I think Lack could use a mentor at least for 1 solid season. I really don't want to see Lack shalacked every nite. I would find a guy like a current Bob Essensa/Jamie Mclennen, a solid veteran who knows he won't be a #1, a good character guy and is willing to mentor a couple young backstops like Ericcson, Markstrom and especially Lack. Is Johan Hedberg still around? He'd be perfect. We'll have nothing but Swedish power between the pipes. Maybe after a year or 2, when Lack gets more experience, then go with a combo of Lack/Markstrom or Lack/Ericcson. If Markstrom's contract is a problem to bury him in the minors, then flip him for a pick or a similar lvl prospect who is a forward or D man.

Markstrom has improved since last summer, albeit mostly in the AHL.
Add a summer of training with a bona fied NHL coach and who knows?
Both goalies have the potential to become the kind of goalie the Canucks need in a couple of years. This team is not going to contend next year, so there's no need for them to fill that stud goalie role next year. Let them fight for crease time and see who emerges.
Some credible time with Rollie and their dude in Sweden, and I can see these guys getting better. If things look shaky in training camp, there will no doubt be a couple of vets on the market who can shore things up.
I'm okay with this tandem because they can only get better, sooner or later.
I think it's fairly obvious that barring Lack becoming completely unplayable over the remainder of this season that our goalies next year will be Lack and Markstrom. Two big, young athletic goalies with high ceilings, who just happen to be best buds. That sounds pretty sweet to me.

I want to see Markstrom start tomorrow afternoon against his old team. Lack needs a break...and it's the first of back to backs. Also, Lack's play since the Luongo deal has cost them at least 2 wins so yeah, he deserves to sit. Torts has to go with Markstrom IMO.
Avoid the Lack vs. Luongo storyline completely. i don't think Eddie is ready for that level of drama.
Markstrom may have something to prove sgainst the team that traded him away.
Markstrom needs to start a game. He has more NHL experience than Lack...but "He's not ready" according to Torts.
In Okinawa, all Miyagi know two things: hockey and karate.

Getting markstrom and Matthias is a fleecing by Gillis IMHO.
Yup! Absolutely agree. Now that we have a starting goalie who has a 0.895SVP and a 3.33GAA since the trade our goaltending problems are well behind us. So glad we got rid of that great goalie we had...how else could we tank?
