I'm not surprised he got traded, not surprised he got traded to Florida. I'm just really surprised he got traded now.

And you know, Florida was exploring re-signing Thomas to a one year deal. So that may have factored into it. Florida can now try and trade Thomas tomorrow for a pick.

Yeah.
Well if ownership wouldn't retain salary a year ago and therefore vetoed the trade, obviously this trade was not available for Gillis to make.
