Or they might trade him because he wants crazy term. I’m good either way
Yup. Miller is good but he's basically an elite support player rather than an elite core piece. His 99 point season/9th in scoring is an outlier imo
You add a JTM to a contender, you don't build around him
+1
So what would you see as a reasonable return for Miller?
Consesus seems to be a first, an A list prospect and a young-ish roster player. I'd be happy with any 2 of them, if the prospect or roster player is a solid RHD.
I am also happy with a 1st and 2 2nds so we can draft all the top RHD this year.
For a Miller trade, JR probably would get a little more than what the Canadiens got in the MaxPac deal, Nick Suzuki, Tomas Tatar and a second round pick. Top prospect, roster player and a 1st.
But contract wise, if Miller resigns, probably around $8M AAV, 5-6 years.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Ive always felt that the Mark Stone and Pacioretty trades are good examples of what the returns will look like for Miller
Stone for Brannstrom, Lindberg, 2nd rd pick
Pacioretty for Suzuki, Tatar, 2nd rd pick
If you’re getting a top prospect you’re not getting a first round pick, you’re a getting a 2nd rd pick, plus a veteran of some kind. It seems to be the price for those types of players of that ilk and age

This is most likely how it'll end up unfortunately.

I'd be happy with a Suzuki type, veteran scorer and a 2nd.
Better than nothing as the Canucks lost both Tanev and Edler for nothing.

The problem is, that prospect could either end up Suzuki level or Brannstrom level (Stone trade). It could go either way. The Sens did not fair well in the Stone trade and Stone is a better player, and younger than Pacioretty.

Need that first big trade to happen for the dominos to fall

Piglander and Boeser for Fiala
You not like Hoggy? That’s overpayment. Boeser for Fiala straight up seems reasonable.
Boeser skates in mud. I think he’d be ok to sign in Minny at a real reasonable rate. But Fiala has been a far better player than Brock the last 2 1/2 years. It’s just a suggestion.
I like Piglander but I don’t think he projects as a 60 -70 point guy.

That’s funny you say that cause Guerin said recently in a radio clip I heard through 650 on defending why he chooses to keep Dumba over Fiala when the Minny fans and media have been calling for him to trade Dumba instead of Fiala, the clip made Guerin sound like he doesn’t think too much to of Fiala and that the fans and media overrate his importance to the team and underrate Dumbas importance with the team. I found that quite interesting. Does Fiala have that potential to flame out the way Eriksson flamed out after his Boston days?
