Raiders and Tigers Complete Trade
excerpt:
The Prince Albert Raiders have announced that they have acquired 20-year-old right-winger Kellan Tochkin from the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for 20-year-old defenceman James Bettauer and a 6th round draft pick in the 2013 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
...
“We are pleased to add a proven top-six forward who has been a consistent point producer in this league”, said Raider Head Coach and General Manager Bruno Campese, “We wish James all the best in Medicine Hat, and in all his future hockey endeavours”.
Hmmm... a swap of overagers - looks like Medicine Hat needed to shore up their defence.

Re: Prospects Thread 2011-12
Does the play and projected NHL future of Polasek, Sauve, Connauton and Corrado make Tanev expendable? Salo aside, the core of our defense is locked up for the next few years. Not that I don't like Tanev, but personally I'd like somebody with more testosterone playing on the bottom pairing.
Admittedly, I haven't seen much of these players, but the reports through the first few games look good.

No.
Tanev can play in the NHL right now, the others are totally unproven.
Heading into the playoffs we should be 9 deep on the blue line, moving Tanev makes us 7 deep.

Although those prospects have promise, as we all know, it is possible that none of them will make it for various reasons.herb wrote:Does the play and projected NHL future of Polasek, Sauve, Connauton and Corrado make Tanev expendable?
Better to hold on to the one prospect that has shown some actual NHL ability... (and it's not Ryan Parent)

Boy, Honzik really seems to be putting his game together after some terrible outings to start the season..

6-6-1 (2 shutouts), GAA 3.02, 0.888
And speaking of goalie prospects...
Eddie Lack 2-2-2 (1 shutout), GAA 2.11, 0.934... wow!
Joe Cannata 5-0-0, GAA 1.40, 0.938... wow! (I wonder if he'll be a Hobey Baker finalist this season? He was close last year)

Re: Prospects Thread 2011-12
So what are the odds that Schroeder will ever be a bona fide top-six NHL forward?
He's shown flashes but at this point I'm thinking they're pretty slim.
