Re: March to the Deadline
With the cap and the number of teams in contention, I'm not surprised or upset we (and others) didn't make for the big moves, more and more I'm thinking there's an appreciation for the need for chemistry. The off-season, however, is when I think there'll be some re-tooling, everyone has time to thin...

Re: March to the Deadline
This is all very reasonable. My knock is that MG ripped Nonis' efforts pretty good back on the day he took over...and has basically proceeded to follow Nonis' path. He hasn't traded away picks and young assets, which is good for the most part. But his acquisitions have been sub-par. End result = no...

Re: March to the Deadline
That's the problem with trying to judge Gillis, the natural tendency is to compare him to Nonis, and it's hard to say he's been a huge improvement. To me that's not an indictment of Gillis, but rather a compliment to Nonis, who I think was a good GM who had some misses, but that's par for course an...

Re: March to the Deadline
- Though it's a fair question to ask ownership why they let Nonis go and then replaced him with Gillis who seems to be carrying on Nonis' plan, myself, I was a fan of Nonis and I'm an even bigger fan of MG. I do like their plan so I have no problem with the framework of how things are going (individ...

Re: March to the Deadline
TSN is reporting that the Predators are looking at dealing Hamhuis to the Flyers in exchange for Danny Syvret. Picking up Grebs is probably a move that allows them to keep their roster somewhat intact with NHL-calibre players and allows them to get something back for a pending UFA. If Mitchell is g...

Re: Olympic Moment
I have no problem with OTP as a name, some athletes I talked to described it as a "rallying cry", but Leave No Doubt works too!

On the patriotism and identity side, and for those out-of-towners, I found this to be a great summary:

Re: Olympic Moment
I love the program, I'm proud of all our athletes, and thanks for pointing out the Chris del Bosco story. Personally, Joannie Rochette was my highlight, though Alexandre Bilodeau and the story of how he became a skier by giving up hockey for his handicapped brother (who leapt out of his wheelchair ...

Re: Injuries after the Olympics
Thats the thing I was hoping we would let Mitchell walk in the offseason and hopefully sign Hamhuis to replace him. An offer of Demitra and Grabner could potentially land Hamhuis but then we lose all of our offensive depth heading in to the playoffs with no guarantee that we can keep Hamhuis. Plus ...

Re: Injuries after the Olympics
Bieksa is skating but sore and Mitchell is still having symptoms so hes a no go with his season in jeopardy. I was really hoping we could ride him out this season and then replace him with Hamhuis in the offseason but with this injury the Nucks may have to acquire someone to fill the void before th...

Re: Luongo confirmed for tomorrow against Germany
I think it's the right move. But was it actually said he would play Russia for sure? I've not read or heard that. The question is, do we get Anahiem game five Luongo or Chicago game seven Luongo? If we get the former we win gold. Babcock said it indirectly during the news conference. When asked if ...

Re: Most hated player?
I understand the logic that the guy sells tickets, I'm just saying I don't agree with it being enough to justify him getting special treatment (or any other player, for that matter). And the difference between Burrowks/Kesler, or even Cooke, Ruutu and Avery versus Pronger is that there's being annoy...
