Re: Just another legal hit...
I actually read somewhere that hitting is up. Once you remove the interference, players are allowed to move faster on the ice, giving them more chances to deliver hits. The problem is that the amount of energy delivered is so great that it caused many injuries. And also, if you read Tom Benjamin's b...

Re: Cooke, what a moron
Agree completely.. Marchant was nicknamed " The Rat".. Don Cherry just called Cooke the same name.. Many of Cookes "hits" while with the Canucks were deliberate attempts to injure.. Then of course he'd turn turtle instead of answering the bell.. Just glad the Canucks didn't keep him . Being a Canuc...

Re: Cooke, what a moron
You're right Kel. Marchment had more than 80 fights in the NHL. http://www.hockeyfights.com/players/90 He was dirty but at least he backed it up. Pretty similar players otherwise. You know that's not what I mean. Cooke was not labeled a dangerous player like Marchment was before 2006. Cooke's reput...

Re: Cooke, what a moron
From what I remember, he was always a turtling little coward . I don't see how anyone could like that side of him. Especially his teammates. I think we have hit the nail on the head here. Anyone who thinks Cooke has just become an asshole after he left the Canucks or after the lockout clearly...

Re: Cooke, what a moron
I think the difference is that pre-lockout, he was considered to have the potential to become a scoring line winger. He was promoted to the first line when Bertuzzi was suspended and scored the late game-tying goal to force OT in game 7. Basically, he was thought to have a chance to become a player ...

Re: Malhotra out after eye surgery
Perhaps the team can try to reduce the PP minutes Kesler gets and double-shifts him on the 3rd line. Put Burrows on the first unit PP. But the PK definitely suffers without Malhotra.the toucan kid wrote:Gigantic hole we couldn't fill if we don't get him back.

Re: Malhotra out after eye surgery
Obviously a major blow to the team. Hopefully he will be OK and will be back in a couple of weeks. On the bright side, it will give our latest additions, Higgins and Lapierre, a chance to show what they can do. We've battled adversity with all the D injuries this year and came out of it looking pre...

Someone should create a browser plugin/add-on that automatically converts all caps to something easier on the eyes.

Re: Canucks get Higgins from Florida
Read that Reasoner didn't wish to be moved because his wife is expecting and the baby is due soon. No, he doesn't have a NTC but it's a reasonable request, and Florida has to keep some players on their roster to hit the salary floor also.

Re: Salo\Moose
If this is the right section of the CBA, then Salo has 14 days for conditioning, with 7 more games available for him to play. 13.8. Conditioning Assignment... No, it is not the right section of the CBA. That 14 days are for healthy players on active roster, not players on IR with the team claiming ...

Re: Salo\Moose
Technically, his cap hit continued throughout his injury period, but the team is allowed cap relief by being allowed to exceed the cap, up to the amount of his salary (depending on how close the team was at the cap when they put him on IR, the closer the better). I don't think a player can be on a c...

Re: Red Wings sign Nabokov
Actually I read that they may truly have a goaltending shortage due to injuries. If that's the case, can't really blame them, especially given that the salary of Nabokov is low and capable free agent goalies (if there is still any left) don't want to sign there. I would get the worst possible guy I...

Re: Red Wings sign Nabokov
The Islanders have to waive him again before they can trade him, so I doubt that was their thinking. Then I absolutely don't understand the move. There's no way in hell this guy would go back there of his own free will next year. Garth just trying to get his name in the news? Anything that makes hi...

Re: Possible NFL and NBA Lockouts. Good for NHL?
I'm glad to hear it. I was referring to that whatever is popular will become more popular before people pick up the NHL, which there seems to be pretty concrete apathy toward in a big chunk of the US. I do agree with that point. It's hard to predict what will be popular if the NFL and NBA shuts dow...

Re: Possible NFL and NBA Lockouts. Good for NHL?
I suspect poker ratings will get higher and NHL ratings will stay about the same in the places where they need help. The good markets may only get better, but with college sports still around, the south will never have widespread time for hockey. Acutally poker has been losing popularity in the US,...
