I think there was more to Carter than the cross-crease pass. With the Sedins, he's a poor-man's Ryan Smyth. Overlooking the hyperbole (a really poor man's Ryan Smyth!), I think the parallel is apt, and I was a fan of the Carter signing even before he displayed chemistry with the Sedins. I wish he'd...

Yeah, they've always had a better following in Europe than in North America.

Bah, you guys get to see them more often in Europe than we do in Toronto :(

Firing Muckler wouldn't be about Not Winning The Cup, I think. More like a natural change of managers, trying not to let the organization stagnate. Which is certainly sensible. But in my opinion, things have gone so smoothly for that team for so long, and the organization has been so well run (all t...

Right, I just want to point out that if you look at the game day thread for that one, you'll note that I, Orts, was the very first person to suggest that Luongo was "answering a call of nature." I beat Robert by two minutes, and that was long before it was publically admitted :) http://www.canucksco...

Luongo said he's looking forward to playing again with a defence that he thinks is among the most underrated in the league. "I wouldn't be up for any nominations if it wasn't for them," Luongo said. "They stepped up for me every night. They are the best group I've ever played with." Whether that's ...

My kneejerk reaction was "HATE!"...

but actually, I kinda like this design. The shadows where the eyes oughta be, the muted but classy colours, the "workingman's superhero" aesthetic.

All kinda cool, once you get over the hallucinatory clamlike aliens clinging onto the top of the guy's head.

It just showed how much of a Leaf town and not a hockey town, Toronto is. I've always said that, too. But every once in a while somebody here proves me wrong :) And really, how would you compare that to Vancouver? or Calgary or Edmonton? As I maintained in another post, I'm not convinced that any o...

But now that the leaves' main rival makes it, all of a sudden it's ok to cheer against a Canadian team. I think that's totally the case here, in the blogsphere, the mainstream media, and in the centre of the universe. I was sitting in a bar here in Toronto watching game two (with a Briton there to ...

"The Vancouver Canucks still exist?!" From a mid-20s athletic guy (i.e. easy hockey demographic) just a few weeks ago when I mentioned the Canucks-Stars series while it was going on. "Trevor Linden played for the Canucks?! Is Russ Courtnall still captain [sic] there?" (Stated in 2000-ish). Well, yo...

I'd like to see Mats Sundin on that list (in spite of my anti-Leaf bias). He has led by example and been the face of his team in spite of the fact that general management has given him fuckall to work with :)

Put him in Darien Hatcher's spot.

Glad you put Brin d'Amour so high up.
