Re: GDT: Canucks vs Coilers. 7:00 PM - HNiC.
What was Torts pissed at? Seriously? He was pissed because a 4th line scrub who is the recipient of some good old fashioned nepotism dropped his gloves and grabbed Kesler forcing Kesler to drop his. He gave Kesler no choice but to go. Torts then yells at daddy Acton who is of course an assistant coa...

Re: OOTS: 2013-14
Hodgson's line outshot 18-6 5-on-5 last night. One game and all that but Hodgson had zero effort on the defensive side of things last night. He should be embarrassed. Can see his icetime dropping in a hurry if he doesn't start to clean up that part of his game as he will get eaten alive especially o...

Re: OOTS: 2013-14
leaves win again thanks to a dreadful Flyer PP. 7-2 was the PP advantage and the leaves second PP came with less than 1 minute left in the game. MayRay with less than 10 minutes icetime. Hodgson's Sabres down 2-1 with a few minutes left. CoHo -2 on the night thus far. 41% on faceoffs. Avs up 1-0 on ...

Re: OOTS: 2013-14
Bad goal by Dubnyk to be sure. But it was a terrible and stupid pass by Hall that despite being a couple of guys back that giveaway immediately puts them on the back foot. They have no real choice but to put it in reverse and give up the blueline. And it wasn't Hall's only turnover that ended up in ...

Re: OOTS: 2013-14
Toronto won their first game. They are a lock for the playoffs and certainly an early Stanley Cup Finals candidate. The best part.....Mason Raymond scored the winning goal. Montreal squandered a 2-1 lead, Price looked bad on Bozak's shorthanded goal. Yep Mason scored the winning goal....on a ...

Re: OOTS: 2013-14
Trouba just oozes ability. Fantastic pick by the Jets at #9. I only wish he took off Hall's head instead of just missing. It's amazing to me that Hall still hasn't learned not to cut to the middle like that with his head down. But as RD pointed out...he is stupid stupid stupid. Wonderful cross ice p...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Eakins is either going to bring the Oilers together and get them to be a decent team or they are going to hate him. Much like Torts, there doesn't seem to be many in between opinions. Be interesting if he can adjust to the NHL...it is different than coaching in the minor leagues. Many highly touted ...

Re: Canucks Training Camp - News & Notes
Any player needing to clear waivers so a team can send them down to get to roster/cap limits had to be on waivers yesterday. Alberts may be on waivers sometime soon but it doesn't help the canucks get down to the proper number of bodies today (deadline for that is 5 pm ET). Shinkaruk was sent down a...

Re: Canucks Training Camp - News & Notes
So i really didn't say anything then besides pointing out that LaPierre isn't particularly tough, though he does hit more but those hits tend to come at a cost and that Richardson is not the degree of smallness you said. Look the LaPierre of the cup run played tremendous hockey, but like the rest of...

Re: Canucks Training Camp - News & Notes
Says we want to get bigger and tougher then replaces Lappy with a smaller and less tough Brad Richardson. Don't tell Tant. ????? I'm not sure I've ever really commented on Richardson let alone got into a comparison of toughness etc. The only thing I really know is that LaPierre is a penalty taking ...

Re: Canucks Training Camp - News & Notes
Gave up a nothing prospect and a 4th round pick (about 10% chance such a pick makes the NHL) for some AHL/NHL tweener depth. Something the organization needed. Lots of people freaking out over a 4th round pick but whatever.

Re: Canucks Training Camp - News & Notes
On Booth....I didn't hear it but on another board it was reported that Gillis said today on 1040 that Booth will be in the next game. Maybe I read wrong or that person heard wrong. I'm pretty sure he was taking contact a few days ago so if so he would be close.

Re: Canucks Training Camp - News & Notes
Booth is supposed to be in the lineup next game so he won't be missing an entire camp at all. He'll get 3 or 4 games in and he is always in shape to begin with. I suspect Schroeder will be in as well. Note that Schroeder apparently dislocated his shoulder 6 or 7 times last year, hence the surgery, a...

Re: Canucks Training Camp - News & Notes
Only watched a couple of periods but interesting to note that Gaunce was likely the best young player last night if not the best forward for the canucks. Made some good defensive plays and once again the bouncing puck found him and he found the back of the net. He didn't look out of place at all tho...

Re: Canucks Training Camp - News & Notes
He also plays hard and goes to the dirty areas which is one of the best signs when we are talking about ofensive orientated prospects. Shinkaruk is looking very good right now. People talk about him being undersized but I think he ends up at least 6'0 and 190, which is only slightly below average f...
