Re: 2016 Free Agency Frenzy
Hey, I thought prized free agents didn't want to sign in Vancouver because management has no direction and we have meddling ownership? I don't think the Eriksson deal is that bad. That's the going rate. At least he's a legitimate first line winger. We just got a lot better. If this move turns the Se...

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2016/17
Taylor Hall seems like his intelligence quotient is around the level of David Booth, Dion Phaneuf, David Clarkson and Shane O'Brien. I'm not sure he has that "it" factor teams want in cornerstone guys they build a team around. Perhaps that's one aspect that speaks to why the trade return was so med...

Re: 2016 Free Agent Hunt
With Lucic out of the picture, I still see Benning taking a big run at somebody else he feels can play in the top 6 with the long-term uncertainty of the twins.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Yes, why did Montreal want PK gone so bad?
PK is a fan favourite in Montreal and has embraced the city like crazy.
Bergevin is getting roasted for this. This trade doesn't really make any sense from Montreal's perspective.

Re: 2016 Free Agent Hunt
I don't get much video coverage over here but did I see the back of an Aqualini head at the Canucks draft table? If it was is that normal? Don't owners sit together in a glass tower somewhere plotting to ruin peoples lives and overthrow governments on a whim? If my boss looked over my shoulder like...

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion
The future core is some combination of Horvat, Virtanen, Demko, Tanev, Boeser, Juolevi, Brisebois, Gudbranson, Markstrom, Hutton, Baertschi, etc. That's as clear as day. What's not clear is what the combination will be. Is Horvat a future HHOFer? How many Vezinas will Demko win? Will Juolevi top out...

Re: 2016 Free Agent Hunt
I'd rather gamble on a couple of lesser lights than go all in $7M X 7 years on Lucic. That being said, from an Aquaman marketing standpoint, the Canucks don't get many chances to bag an in-his-prime superstar, who just happens to be a Vancouver boy, home. Season ticket sales would take an uptick, I'...

Re: 2016 Free Agent Hunt
Yes, a potential 7 year Lucic contract at $6M per with a full NMC is scary, but sometimes you gotta gamble. Eriksson is scary too. He's two years older than Milan and has had how many concussions now? Andrew Ladd is another one. How effective is he going to be at 35, 36 or 37? I mean we just witness...

It's also quite hard to become a non-resident of Canada. Does Nonis still own a home in Canada? Does he have any dependents in Canada? Does he have Canadian bank accounts, drivers license, etc.? Does he own any personal property in Canada? Has he severed all social ties in Canada? Yes there are reci...

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion
I thought I heard Hamonic recinded his trade request?? He did. But when you get a chance to add a 24 year old top-5 player at his position, signed to a nice contract for 4 more years, you probably look at all options. But with him not up for trade, wouldn't this be more 'speculation/fantasy' than '...

Re: 2016 Free Agent Hunt
Hey, I'm all in on Stamkos if Benning can pull it off. Guys like Stamkos simply do not come available all that often. I'd be pissed if Benning wasn't making a push. I'd be giddy if he could pull off punting Sbisa and Burrows while bringing in Stamkos and Lucic/Eriksson. Realistically though, our cha...

Re: 2016 Free Agent Hunt
Simply because everything seems to always work out fine for Detroit. Detroit won't miss a beat because - hey - Stamkos. But would you rather live there and be a Wings fan - or live in Vancouver and put up with our team? Probs some small town in Nebraska. :D What's annoying is all the Wings fans out...

Re: 2016 Free Agent Hunt
Oh, I think there's very little chance Stamkos ends up in the Pacific. Montreal, Toronto, Buffalo, Boston, Detroit or Tampa, I'd say.micky107 wrote:It would indeed be hard to watch Stamkos on a Pacific team, FIVE FREAKIN TIMES, wouldn't it.

Re: 2016 Free Agent Hunt
It's really going to be a piss off when Detroit lands Stamkos. Why? What pisses me off is how easily Detroit moved Datsyuk's contract AND got a second round pick as well! Simply because everything seems to always work out fine for Detroit. 25 year playoff streak. 11 championships. A horrible year f...
