Re: The Great Jim Benning Debate!

Gonna go ahead and repeat the request that you two get a room.

(Be sure to get one with a bathtub Doc, but don't worry about tracking down an enamel tub.. the lye won't melt through plastic)

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion

It's window dressing for a team at this stage, but it's a little frustrating that Jim Benning had no idea you need 11-12 NHL defensemen in the West. Any Canucks fan who has paid the slightest amount of attention could have told him this. Probably the executives who were employed by the team could ha...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

I'd rather not lose than lose with .. 'honour' (?) .. and signing the hunchback to a long term contract that makes him a marquee player on the team is not a great way to avoid losing regularly. Winning is but one part of the NHL entertainment package young David. Oh, do you not care about winning? ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Yep. Burke walked into the best goaltending situation he'd ever have - you can interpret it however you want in terms of his character or his abilities as a GM, but he did at least do right by the player in that case.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Seriously, the Flames had the worst goaltending by far in the NHL this season. I think injury-prone Reimer and that dee will make the Flames a bubble team for the foreseeable future. (a bubble team that consistently misses the playoffs due to depth issues) Is Burke the worst executive in the league...

He cannot have one. "Professionals" have agents.

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT

Honestly maybe I just missed the hype train on Matthews but this Laine kid is unreal. 8 goals in his last 7, in the playoffs in a men's league.. McKeen's has him at 1st overall and talks about him having a similar skill set (if not the same calibre) as Mario Lemieux.. better than Rick Nash who was w...

Re: N.H.L. Rule Changes; Anything goes.

Disagree that a team playing 5 on 6 isn't being penalized - they are playing an indefinite period in which they cannot score a goal (or even touch the puck), hence their opponent being free to pull their goaltender.

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion

If Burr can't be dealt, you hold on to him. Worst case scenario, he's waived. Better to buy him out than waive him. If he is waived and clears through to Utica then we still have a $4M cap hit on our roster. What's worse, $3.6m next year with him in the minors or $2.5m next year and another $1m the...

Re: OOTS Jan-Apr 2016

All we have to do is lose to LA and we pretty well guarantee a bottom six finish. I know that doesn't translate into a top six pick but it gives us odds, slim, but still odds. Really though outside the bottom three the odds difference is minuscule. So, lose to LA, then beat the crap out of Calgary ...

Jets hang on to get into overtime against the Hawks (before trading chances and losing), giving them 70 points.
