Re: Pick Your Least Favourite Benning Move
You need the Miller signing on there. OK - I eliminated the Dorsett trade, and put in the Miller signing... Personally I give him a mulligan on the Miller signing, because going into your first season as a GM with Lack and Markstrom as two unproven starters seems too risky - signing Miller guarante...

Re: Pick Your Least Favourite Benning Move
Even though I voted Sbisa re-signing, those 2nd and 3rd round pick trades really suck. Using the Anaheim 3rd round to trade for Derek Dorsett? Wait - here's one that's worse - acquiring Tampa's 2nd round 2014 only to use it to get Linden Vey Then using the 3rd round 2016 to get concussion-ruined And...

Pick Your Least Favourite Benning Move
Let's turn those those frowns upside down - at least we can laugh at our team and commiserate! Poll offers 10 options - I did not include Willie Desjardins signing, Vrbata signing, Richardson signing, Dorsett trade, Forsling for Clendening trade, Dorsett re-signing, or Patrick McNally trade... I tri...

When Blob, after making a derogatory reference to "the urine crew" in every post since 2013 becomes their leader - I think we can all agree that we have moved into a new era of the Canucks.

Re: Kassian traded to Habs...
By having to add the 5th round pick, it makes me think that Benning specifically targeted Prust as a player he "needed" to get - not unlike the Vey and Dorsett trades which seemed like overpayments... I wonder what other teams would have paid for Kassian? I get the distinct feeling Benning never che...

Re: Kassian traded to Habs...
I get that people will see Prust as an underwhelming return for the "potential" of Kassian - but it's not too bad if you look at the "reality" of Kassian right now. Maybe Kassian will still become a better difference-maker someday - but at least Prust is a useful, heart-and-soul, abrasive player tod...

Re: Free Agency 2015
My guess is they'll attempt to sign Eric Fehr and Matt Bartkowski.
Fehr replaces Richardson and Bartkowski provides lower pairing help, and insurance in case Corrado and Clendening aren't capable.

Re: Canucks News and Notes
SC, The Canucks showed no interest in signing McNally. For whatever reasons he did not fit into Benning's future. Character was the rumoured concern, or lack there of. So they take a pick now rather than get nothing at all. Perhaps - if it was about the cheating scandal, well about half the class p...

Re: Draft Day 2015: Picks & Trades
Flames setting up their D with Giordano and Hamilton. I'd add TJ Brodie to that list... This looks to be a great trade for the Flames - not too often a player with a development curve like Hamilton becomes available, and they only gave up one 1st and two 2nds. I saw the "stay at home" comment from ...

Re: 2014-15 Utica Comets
Why waste a contract? That's why I brought up the recent signings of undrafted UFA Sautner and 7th round pick Mackenze Stewart --- in my opinion, McNally has better skills and potential as a defenceman for today's NHL than either of them... so Benning has no problem extending a contract to them, bu...

Re: 2014-15 Utica Comets
Benning confirmed Monday the Canucks will not be signing Patrick McNally. “We are going to let him be a free agent,” Benning said. “We have got a lot of good young defencemen who we feel are ahead of him. With (Ben) Hutton and (Jordan) Subban being our two young offensive guys, we just felt we can ...

Re: 2015 Canucks offseason
JB sure is very non committal with regards to McNally. His only response has been, we just don't know. Word is that don't think will be an NHLer and they don't know if they want to risk taking up a roster spot for him. Well bloody hell, Stewart was worth the risk?? I think McNally is wanting to go ...

Re: 2015 Draft Class watch
I'm always hopeful that the Canucks will draft useful NHL players - especially in the first round - 2014 (6th) Jake Virtanen, (24th) Jared McCann - TOO SOON TO TELL 2013 (9th) Bo Horvat, (24th) Hunter Shinkaruk - TOO SOON TO TELL 2012 (26th) Brendan Gaunce - TOO SOON TO TELL 2011 (29th) Nicklas Jens...
