Re: Topper's Grilling Advice!

Going to second the roast chicken. Stick another dish of veg (carrots, parsnips, cauliflower etc) and/or potatoes in partway through, make a green salad (takes 5 minutes) and there's dinner. Maybe 15-20 minutes of work in total. Save half the bird and make soup or enchiladas or pasta with it (I like...

Re: The Great Jim Benning Debate!

Without getting into debating the debate... I think Bennings moves are mostly improving over time. Sutter for example, I'm okay with. I do think he ended up on the high side of contract negotiations yet again, which is frustrating but I won't make a mountain of it here. His drafting is obviously ver...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Scott is entered in the hardest shot and shot accuracy competitions. They should've thrown him in the fastest skater competition. :D Next season @ the all-star competition, they should build a machine with big mats (kind of like that boxing punching ball @ the arcades), so that it can read the play...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Forsling plays fifteen minutes a game, behind four other defensemen including Daniel Rahimi, so splitting hairs about Linkopings position in the standings probably isn't particularly useful.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

I wonder how much taxes have to do with that... http://www.taxpayer.com/media/CTF-HomeIceDisadvantage.pdf ($8.5M in Tampa is $9.864M in Toronto, guess where Stamkos is going to sign) That's a fun little rabbit hole to go down.. Stamkos would lose about 8% of his income to taxes signing in To...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

It's just the same fucking thing over and over again with Tuna. We get it. The peanut gallery in Toronto turns on players. Phil Kessel, Dion Phanuef. Kris Versteeg. Whoever else. Just because these players got trashed eventually doesn't mean there aren't five million homers - some of them in high le...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

You can't deny, though, that $1.2m for Kessel is a bargain.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

It's the combination of not having proven himself and expecting a top 6 role. He seems unwilling to take his 'lumps' which is concerning to me. No question he has a higher ceiling than McCann or Virtanen, I'm wary of giving up guys who have shown that maturity and deal with adversity like being scr...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Those are all buyouts. Next offseason you could buy a player out of the six remaining years on his deal and be on the hook until 2028.

Heck if we bought Brandon Sutter out next summer we'd be paying him until 2026. :look:
