Re: What would it take to get PK Subban?
What would it take for us to get Subban? One of the best young defencemen in the game? Far more than we could realistically offer. End of conversation.

Re: SOB Signs
I'm with DC4PM, SOB has improved substantially since we first got him and while he makes mistakes, he's not exactly a turnover machine. As a 6th defenceman he's more than adequate, maybe a touch pricey at $1.6M, but hardly exorbitantly overpaid. I wouldn't be overly sad if he left, but I don't want ...

Re: GM bankrupt - GM Place
I'm still not sure why it couldn't be called Rogers Place at the very least. Rogers Arena sounds like something you'd find in Humboldt, Saskatchewan next to the Value Savers Shopping Mart. I think it's alliteration. Just like the Shark Tank used to be called " C ompact C enter" and then changed to ...

Re: Notable exceptions to Prospects Camp
Rodin signed but the Canucks already agreed to loan him to his team in Sweden for another year. He'll be with the Moose in 2011/12.nucklehead_88 wrote:oh yea! Rodin.....forgot about that guy. yea he should be wih the Moose

Re: Canucks have interest in Aron Asham
I'd love it if we got him, he'd be the last piece in our bottom six IMO. A tough guy who is actually good at playing hockey. I was really impressed with him at both ends of the ice during the playoffs this year, and for anything less than $1.2M I'd welcome the signing. Get'er done Gillis. If we do s...

Re: Keith Ballard for Our First
I don't get the hate for the Ballard contract. $4.2M is pretty much on par with other players like him, and when it was signed just over a year ago everyone was talking about how it was a steal. He's a comparable player to Hamhuis who'll likely get $5M on the open market due to fierce bidding. Balla...

Re: NHL FREE AGENCY
The fact that Hamhuis has balked at playing for two pretty solid cup cotenders in Philly and Pittsburgh indicates that the Canucks are either at the top or close to the top of his wish list. While the current rumour is $4M a season for 4 years, he'll probably get a bit more on the open market. Is he...

Re: Oilers Clean House
I'm a big no for Moreau. Oilers fans felt he was one of the worst players on the team this year. A last place team. He was pretty good a decade ago, but he's regressed pretty severely from even 2 years ago. There are better (and frankly cheaper) options for our bottom six out there and even among ou...

Re: Keith Ballard for Our First
He's not 6'6" .... so what? A lot of good Dmen are his size. Perhaps the reason he hasn't stood out in the past is BECAUSE he was on cellar dwelling teams. I've been harping on this point for a while. The best defencemen aren't 6'5" 220lb monsters, Pronger is the exception not the rule. The three N...

Re: Canucks Interested in Ladd
It's unlikely that Ladd would be a consistent scoring threat for us. He's a slightly more talented Bernier, and he only uses his strength a little bit more. Expecting him to be a second liner is a bit of a stretch. However, he'd be an excellent bottom six guy and I'd welcome him on the team so long ...

Re: Canucks re-sign Rome
Sure he doesn't excel at anything, but there are no glaring holes in his game and for a team notoriously short on defensive depth he's more than adequate. Notorisouly short on defensive depth? I recall that last training camp there were too many D-men signed: Salo, Mitchell, Bieksa, Edler, Ehrhoff,...

Re: Canucks re-sign Rome
He's certainly not spectacular in any specific area of the game He contributes nothing offensively, but defensively he's decent and has a bit of physical play without making any stupid decisions. He's not a world class shutdown defenceman by any stretch, but he can eat 14-16 minutes each night no p...

Re: Canucks re-sign Rome
750k per according to the Province. I like the deal, he's a solid defenceman and more than serviceable in the 6/7 role. It's nice to have a bit of depth.
