Re: IIHF 2016 World Championships

Sorry. Should have remembered. Even when Canada sucks in the round robin, they usually manage to pick it up a notch once the elimination games begin. Not the first time this happens. Sucked in the round robin? :eh: Canada went 6-1 outscoring their opponents 34-8, that's with their 4-0 loss to Finla...

Re: IIHF 2016 World Championships

So, before the world championship final, I guess we get a European final (Finland vs Russia) and a North American final (Canada vs US). :look:

Markström wasn't bad, but his team was.

I loved the way he handled McJesus's breakaway.

Can you see this in Canada?

Re: IIHF 2016 World Championships

You have to go back to 1958 to find a game where Sweden lost with bigger numbers to Canada at the Worlds.
The team Sweden had assembled for this tournament was pathetic! :|

Re: IIHF 2016 World Championships

Matthews scores the only US goal in reg and follows it up with the shootout winner as the Americans knock off the Czechs. Advantage back to Matthews? Maybe. But Laine is third in scoring with 7 goals and 4 assists in 8 games. Pretty impressive. The previous record for an 18-yo playing at the Worlds...

Re: IIHF 2016 World Championships

Sounds like Talbot may have been a little off? That, and the Finns are having a tremendous tournament. If the Finns go all the way, Laine will have the amazing triple of winning the J18, J20 and senior world championships, all in the same season... :o So, quarter finals: Czechs vs USA Canada vs Swe...

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT

I've posted some highlights from Finland's first two games at the world championship over in the Team Canada forum. Laine is on fire! In just two games he has annihilated the scoring record for an 18 yo at the worlds set in 1990 by Jagr, over the course of ten games...! http://canuckscorner...

Re: IIHF 2016 World Championships

In 1990 Jaromir Jagr made his world championship debut, and over the course of ten games he scored three goals and assisted on two, for a total count of five points. That is the most points an 18 year old player has ever scored in a world championship. Well, until today that is. It took Patrik Laine...
