Re: So long, farewell, good bye to the Sedins

I'm not all that old, but there is a very good possibility that I'll never see another player give as much on the ice to this team (or its fans) as either Sedin has. Obviously their on ice accomplishments speak for themselves but I can't think of anyone that's ever offered anything but praise for th...

Without subtracting anything (other than a few bad contracts) or going over the cap.

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT

I don't like these analyses. If you look at games played, Ben Eager and Taylor Pyatt are successful first round draft picks. The chart that ESQ posted of expected points from a player at a given pick, specifically excludes goaltenders (obviously) and defensemen because the author says they are too h...

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT

I think the point SKYO is nibbling around the edges of is that we should trade the pick so we can get an even worse value proposition (except a defenseman!) plus some other stuff. Ultimately, who knows. I don't see the point of naysaying the guys who virtually everyone agrees should go at #'s 4 and ...

Re: It seems they're serious about expansion now...

The league made something like a third of the per annum sum on the rights deal prior to this one, and were basically giving them away for free after the 2004-05 lockout..

Re: It seems they're serious about expansion now...

That 10 year deal you're complaining about may end up being the high water mark micky. I don't know when it's going to change, but ESPN are already cutting costs.. how many cable subscribers are there going to be in a decade, each giving a few dollars to major networks like that whether they watch i...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Is there even a second serious bid at this point? Seattle doesn't have a building (and just had a huge setback with the current arena proposal) and Quebec couldn't pony up the money to file an application... Quebec is very serious, the only thing holding them back is the low Canadian dollar. ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

I could see LA exposing Brown, Chicago exposing Hossa , whereas SJS would have to protect both Thornton and Marleau. Some GM's are said to be trying to trade a number of players they feel they would have to expose to get picks/prospects. Look for MAF to be traded if the Pens can do it. I hope they ...

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2016/17

Tough break for the kid, obviously you have to feel sympathy on a personal level, particularly because for a marginal NHLer a major years-long distraction at this age could play a part in ending his career in this league. Sign him to a cheap one year deal and give him another chance. Make it one way...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

A lot of talk in the media about how Stevie Y is going manage his salary cap over the next little bit here. So many of his good players on cheap contracts set for big pay raises. He must be loving the Garrison contract right now. Ole Mikey Gillis, gotta love him. Great trade by Benning getting rid ...
