Re: Draft Day 2015: Picks & Trades

Interesting. Heavy price tag for a stay at home d-man but he's shown some O on the PP. With the 15th Boston can draft a D with more offensive upside than Hamilton......but what do they do while waiting for him to develop? I haven't seen Hamilton play all that much, but he put up 42 points as a 21 y...

Re: 3 on 3 OT Next Season (?)

Any mention on how penalties will be called? I would imagine that any penalty would result in a penalty shot. Wouldn't they just add a player from the opposing team? ie Team A takes a penalty, Team B gets a 4-3 advantage? Not sure how the timing would work... maybe Team A's player in the box comes ...

Re: 3 on 3 OT Next Season (?)

I think it's a great idea . In the past I thought it was gimmicky but I'm not a huge fan of the shoutout and with 3 on 3 there will be so much open ice out there which will really benefit the quick teams. If you want true Open Ice, it would mean going down to 2 on 2 ;) http://www.arcade-history.com...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

I find it interesting that 3 of the 4 goalies left are not your typical franchise type of players. This is one aspect of the modern game that surprises me. Nothing against Crawford but he's only an average type of 'tender and Bishop/Andersen have been letting in some cheese the last few games. Team...

Re: Who's Getting Traded?

If you are picking between Hamhuis and Bieksa, to me it is a complete no brainer and you keep Hamhuis. Yes Hamhuis would likely fetch a better return, but by how much? With either player you risk losing them for nothing a year from now so teams may view both as short term acquisitions. Both are on n...

Re: Who's Getting Traded?

I think Vey got a lot of starts simply because of the position he played and the injuries to Richardson/Bonino. I would have liked to see Matthias move into the middle more often with Vey on the sidelines but the Canucks seemed to prefer him on the wing. With Matthias likely gone and Richardson up i...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

To be far, the Ducks, Oilers and Flames all had shitty teams during this time and had better a drafting position than the Canucks, Hodgson and Schroeder - replace Hank and Kesler? Obviously when you have a shitty team and draft high, your prospects will move quicker into the NHL game, play big minu...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

It's amazing the affect of lucking out in the draft what that can do to a franchise. Ask the Red Wings how much Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg have meant to the club or how much Lucic, Bergeron, Marchand and Krejci mean to the Bruins. The Canucks biggest issue right now is we haven't stole any re...

Re: 2015 Canucks offseason

Bieksa/Sbisa are taking a lot of heat this series and to an extent rightfully so. But Hamhuis/Weber were really not much better IMO, especially as the series went on. Bieksa (-1) & Sbisa (-2) for a combined -3, and put their team shorthanded 2 times in the series. Hamhuis (-2) & Weber (-5) for a com...

Re: 2015 Draft Class watch

Just like Tanner Pearson and Toffoli on the 2nd line in Los Angeles, fuck ya'll so negative. lol Yeaaaaaaah, except for the fact both those guys produced in the minors before making the LA Kings. Jensen has had a very pedestrian professional career. Speaking of Pearson & Toffoli, I believe Linden V...

Re: GDT:R1G4 Canucks @ Flames

An extremely frustrating game to watch, to say the least.

I'm a big fan of the Sedins, but WTF was this?

Might as well make it 5 and let Safeway Score & Win give someone a chance at winning a cool million, no?

Re: GDT:R1G4 Canucks @ Flames

The Canucks need to make life more difficult for the Flames Dmen, and it starts with a better break out with speed out of their own end. On the defensive side, close the gaps earlier and finish checks with authority. (especially on Scrawny Jockey) Thinking that discipline will be key for both sides,...
