Re: Jannik Hansen breaks hand
Well the injury makes room for Glass who had a good preseason.. 1 mans misfortune is another mans chance .. Both are good hockey players.. Glass plays a hard nosed game.. Maybe he'll suit up against Calgary tonight.. though Hordi and Rypien are more likely on 4th line duty against the Flames..

Re: GDT: Canucks @ Flames - 7pm CBC-HD
ITS HOCKEY TIME !!!!!!! ... and a great game to start the season.. Now we'll see if the "New Canucks".. are for real.. and if JayBo, Iginla and company can stop Shirikov, Samuelsson from becoming our lastest heroes.. Got my Tiger Williams sweater out for this one.. its going to rough , tough hockey....

Re: More cuts, Grabner and Schneider down
errr spelling correction.... you did mean waist lines of Russia?I wonder if somewhere in the icy wastelands of Russia, a guy by the name of Koltsov is taking notice of what Shirokov is accomplishing w/ guts & a great attitude!

Re: More cuts, Grabner and Schneider down
No real comparison really.. Shirikov played in the 2nd best league in the world as a pro and was the " star " of his team.. Give Hodgson a couple more years and he just might be in the same class or even higher depending on his development . I expect a little more than Island, depending on which lin...

Re: More cuts, Grabner and Schneider down
No real surprises .. too bad about Lukowich.. but its a numbers game. SOB looked good in a couple games.. mediocre in a couple but didn't take dumb penalties. With Funk in Moose country the team looks deep enough on D .. Glass has been a pleasant surprise hopefully he'll contribute to team toughness...

Re: Cody Hodgson has been back to his junior team...
A good call by MG/AV... Hod(g)son just wasn't ready for the big show. Keeping him up riding the pine wouldn't help either him or the Canucks. Hopefully he learned a bit at camp and in the exhibition games and will work hard to improve his game.. He showed some talent in his game but needs to work on...

Re: when is AV trimming the roster??
Send Shirokov down, if that's what it takes, trade Ryan Johnson, if it takes that. You into the juice early ?.... Shirokov maybe a far better prospect than Hodgson.. not withstanding the hype from the media. Johnson is our best defensive forward - shot blocker and faceoff man.. I am a Hodgson fan b...

Re: GDT 09/26 - Canucks @ Flames
So, for the first time we see all 3 rookie forwards on the ice for the same game.. My money is on Shirokov beating out Grabner and Hodgson . Should be an interesting game. Glass has been working hard and looking ok.. But Calgary is fielding a far stronger team.. Don't expect a win from the Nucks ton...

Re: AV extended untill 2013
" I don't know how many times I have seen the team that is better on paper lose to the lesser because of momentum, hard work, etc " Case in point.. Chicago winning last year over Canucks. 1 game of bad coaching,, I game of goaltender ( Luongo ) meltdown and 1 game of complete defensive failure.. Los...

Re: when is AV trimming the roster??
From Canucks com.... " Head Coach Alain Vigneault revealed more cuts are to be made by Friday before the team heads to Calgary. “We’ll probably be down to 32-32 players,” said Vigneault. “I’m not going to cut the players; players are going to cut themselves. Watch the games and figure out who’s play...

Re: when is AV trimming the roster??
Dunno, but just maybe he is waiting to see if Hodgson and Shirikov do make the team .. and keeping the older vets around for insurance? Shirikov looked good in the couple games he played but has been injured and Cody has only had 1 game of preseason action. I am sure the AV' had both pencilled in fo...

Re: Shirokov
For sure Shirokov is not a " Bure "... more like a junior edition of Mogilny.. He's good at both ends of the ice.. offensively gifted and plays well defensively. Hopefully we'll see a lot more of him in the next 3 weeks.. and I am betting he'll be in the regular lineup for the season.. not a call up..

Re: Shirokov
Great game by Shirokov... He has been top of the new guys since arriving. Looks like Canucks have a winner ! Now they have a small problem... numbers game says if he makes the team ( and I have no doubt he'll be playing in the NHL this year ), who goes? Raymond looks like the odd man out if both Hod...

Re: Canucks Sign Schnieder
So far I am not excited with MG"s moves this off season... overpaying the twins.. letting Ohlund go.. and trying to fill the gap with overage Dman.. not overly impressed with Samuelsson signing.. This years team looks a lot like last years team ... but without Ollie and Sundin... replaced by Schneid...

Re: Heatley
" But to me, moving your best scoring forward to the second line powerplay does seem somewhat counterproductive"/??? Putting Heatley on the 2nd line PP worked.. but if you want an example of how a good player would respond .. Check out Alexander Mogilny.. Far and away the best player on the Canucks ...
