''It's the Ducks and those guys with the Flames,'' he said. ''Flames, Flames Flames, all I can see in my head is the Flames. They are there every year.'' That's 'cause the Canadian teams are the ones that have a huge fan base that goes to games in California. I went to a Canucks/Ducks game a few yea...

Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Fact is GMs weren't seeking these guys out to play in the best league in the world. And there's a reason. Caveat: I have no real idea of the kind of talent that actually exists in the Russian leagues these days. But I recall someone saying recently (on cbc, maybe? or here) ...

And to Bykov's mind, as was reported in the Russian press and cited in my earlier post, Koltsov was a clear defensive liability and ranks behind such household names on defence as Vitaly Atyushov, Alexei Emelin, Denis Grebeshkov, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, Maxim Kondratiev, Lada Togliatti, Ilya Nikulin a...

I think I told this story once already. Oh, well. Trevor Linden used to come into the coffee shop I worked at in Kitsilano ("Expressohead," now defunct). The summer of 1994, he came in with a woman and ordered a couple of skim-milk mochas. I asked him how his summer was, and he said, "Short," and we...

They are a powerhouse They have been really fun to watch, and I'm so happy for them to finally be there after those years of disappointment. I even got to see a couple of games in rowdy Ottawa bars when I visited last weekend! I have a feeling, though, that their attitude has been a little too happ...

Well, really, nobody on the team did put up Carter-type numbers with the Sedins. Carter scored thirty goals; Pyatt didn'...

Re: Sedins sick as dogs

Injuries and bugs - much as you hate to admit it, they're often the deciding factor in the playoffs. I was really optimistic at the beginning of the Dallas series for precisely that reason: miraculously, everybody seemed healthy, and we were only missing Kesler at that point... But immediately seve...

You're lucky you get the game at all, CBC Alberta isn't showing the Canucks. My only hope is to catch it on the CBC streaming thing. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/stanleycup2007/streams/# I don't see it listed on the cbc website as a possibility. They seem only to have the Ottawa Pittsburgh one, ...

He spent more time on the ice. Usually more time on the ice translates to him being more noticeable. Yeah, but everybody spent more time on the ice, as we've already established! I don't really get what you're saying... As I hinted earlier, it looked like Bulis put in a proportionately comparable n...

Yeah, also karma 'cause we were lucky to be so very healthy coming into the playoffs. I thought the same thing about Bieksa's injury :(
