Re: Canucks Young Guns

Hey Per - how convenient for you to have new Swedish players on the Canucks to follow as the Sedins leave and Edler plays out his contract. Well, I for one hope the nucks draft some more Swedes, because this year has been great to watch now that I live over here and have lost most of my interest in...

Re: World Championship 2012

Since the abrupt end to the Canucks season, and given the teams that remain, I can't get interested in the NHL at all, which is unusual for me. Living in Europe now, the games are too late to stay up for anyway. The WC, on the other hand, is great; the free youtube channel makes all the games access...

Re: WHERE do the Canucks go from here? List your strategies

ESPN Europe allows you to watch on demand, so you can watch HNIC on Sunday mornings. Gives you an excuse to start drinking early. :drink: Aha, that's excellent to know, thanks! actually, come to think of it, I've had altogether too many nights lately where I got home from the bar at 6 a.m. and the ...

Re: WHERE do the Canucks go from here? List your strategies

I didn't get to watch much of the playoffs, since I moved to Europe and have a really crappy internet connection (damn, Cookie et al., I don't know how you guys ever manage to stay up for the games. Onna plus side, NoMeansNo is touring). But I watched a lot of the regular season. I think we would've...

Then you have no reason to comment. After all, why would you comment on things you admittedly know nothing about?

Quite right, I'm sure.

But never thought I'd see anybody get under LB's skin (especially not an obvious troll). It was one of the things I always admired about you!

Re: Edler's performance: is there consensus?

Hasn't been an amazing year for Edler, but as others say here, he's only 23 -- still pretty young for a defenseman to really blossom. He's well-rounded: offensive, intelligent, calm (maybe too calm), fairly athletic, plays in all situations. And the coaching staff are giving him top minutes -- 25 in...

For at least the first year after he joined the Oilers, there was a deadly panic that Penner wouldn't work out either. I recall accusations of floaterism going around. Nice to see he's doing better for now.

Re: thread title

My god, if what you meant to say doesn't fit on the subject line, reword the goddamn thing . How hard is that? I mean, ya spend hours on yr posts, so might as well spend a few extra minutes on their titles. That way we won't have to be constantly bludgeoned by "Burrows-and-Kesler-and-come" for the n...

Re: Olympic Chat

Just watching the second period of the Czech/Slovakia game.... keep an eye on Demitra (indeed, watch Slovakia -- I think they might surprise some people). He seems to be playing a lot more than he has been on the Canucks -- killing penalties, power play time, got an assist. A sign of what we might s...

I'm not (usually) super-conservative about institutions, but I am absolutely in agreement with you about this. Pretty soon they'll start hiring refs on the basis of their intonation :)

Re: Oberg

Just noticed on the Moose website that Oberg has been sent back to Winnipeg. Yeah, he looked a little lost on the ice last night every time I saw him. Kind of a deer in the headlights. To be fair, it was a very intense game, and it must be particularly tough to be a rookie defenseman. No doubt it wa...

Re: Our French-Canadian Triplet

Then Farhan's a genius! or, at least, even a stopped clock reads the right time twice a day ;) Here's a really insightful article on how the Sedin/Burrows line came about, with interesting soundbites from Vigneault and the players themselves. Vigneault suggests that it was a happy accident born of d...
