Re: Gulutzan Flames

Glen is expected to be announced as the Flames new coach today. http://www.tsn.ca/flames-to-name-gulutzan-head-coach-1.509551 Good for him, I've been following his career since he was the Vegas Wranglers (ECHL) coach - but I don't wish him any success in his new position. If WD makes it through the...

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion

My concern is the travel between AHL teams throughout the season. It didn't work well for Calgary. The AHL Comets would probably not get any favors in scheduling if out this neck of the woods. Call ups from the AHL to the NHL, well a bit inconvenient but the Canucks can afford the best. Player movem...

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2016/17

Although I initially blasted Benning for screwing the pooch on TDD, I have since backed off that. Vrbata provided a list of teams in a cleaver way to minimize the likelihood of a trade. Nothing Benning could do there. Hamhuis was coming off a horrific injury and only agreed to waive a few days befo...

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2016/17

Baertschi just signed a two year extension $1.7m in 2016/17 and $2m in 2017/18 with an average cap hit of $1.85m. It is a pretty decent deal! :D http://canucks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=886195 With this deal, the Canucks are now committed $63.7m on 12 forwards, 7 defensemen and 2 goalies. The only R...

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion

Why would any management put such a horrid travel situation on their AHL farm team. Our Comets are in a decent area now so why throw a ridiculous travel schedule on them that could hinder and complicate the development of players. I don't see that as good business. If down the road there are going t...

$1.85M per, what I guessed approximately awhile ago.

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion

I'll take a wild stab and say team structure.
Not only the quality of players but the environment around the team on and off the ice.
Also meaning the relationship from player all the way up to management and ownership.

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion

yeah vancouver fans are a whiny bunch. :hmmm: :-D Anyways, if we can't add stammer, lets talk about the 4th line C and wing, mwaha. I'd say move Granlund to RW or trade him so we can sign Trevor Lewis for an expensive 4th line center, he can play any position, he'd be a great stanley cup winner to ...

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion

And, and. Last I checked, we're down a center from season's end, so we need one.
DOES ANYBODY WANT VEY TO HAVE A BIGGER ROLE???
I thought not.
Stamkos is a center.

Their backup must be sorely Lacking. Wonder if you can get a 3rd rounder for him?
Guess he was a one city guy. Too bad. I liked the guy, go figure... :?

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion

idk about you IN, don't you want this team to get better for 10+ years? as Stamkos has at least that many years ahead of him, and in those 10 years, don't you think it's plausible to get better around him? And a team can get better within 2-3 years with the Sedins here, don't you see that? The Sedi...

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion

Am I in the minority that doesn't want Stammer here? Yeah, we could and he would sign here but why? Demo, Brock, #5 aren't ready for a run yet so why even bother?! We would be Laughs West if we did that. The Makebelievers think Stamkos is signing with them so I don't wanna even think like them...bl...

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion

Vancouver is a better place to raise a family then most other NHL cities. He is a passionate player so I assume he takes all things into consideration.
He may well enjoy switching to the Western conference so I don't see why he wouldn't at least give us a damn good look, why not?

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Good move for both teams, for very different reasons. Carolina gets a good, high potential, young centre plus a 3rd/4th line role player to play a hard game, or they can still buy him out and absorb his cap hit easily. Chicago gets cap relief, two picks to replenish the cupboards, a little potentia...
