Re: LOL

After today's game Hughes is leading the rookie scoring race. If Hughes wins the Calder, we'll have the first back-to-back Calder winners since Boston with Bobby Orr and Derek Sanderson in the 60s. Think about that - in spite of losing every lottery draft, Benning might be the only GM to pull off th...

Not to nitpick but Makar was Colorado’s own pick in 2017.
Ohhh right, hard to believe that they were so deep in the basement such a short time ago.

But also another example of the better luck Sakic has had, Canucks haven't picked that high since 1999.

Re: LOL

I'm not really sure if Benning should be the frontrunner either, I think it should be a more-active GM who's done more moves than Benning has. Benning's biggest activity was probably the UFA market for the past 2 years, with mixed results. He hasn't made many trades, though I think he's one both of ...

Re: LOL

Sakic gave up: Soderberg, Kerfoot, Barrie, Kosmachuk and a 2nd & 3rd. Sakic acquired: Kadri, Doonskoi, Burakovsky, minor-leaguer Connauton, and a 3rd. Sakic's best move was converting the "old" 1st-overall Duchene into the new 4th-overall Makar. That is an excellent return, better than Benning's lat...

Re: Mick's thread full of links CLICK AT YOUR OWN PERIL

I find it fascinating listening to Kesler on the radio, and what a shift has undergone. He was probably the biggest douche this team's ever had (remember "Screw Canada in 2010?), and he left the team in one of the worst demanded-trades we've ever seen. But...I think he genuinely feels bad, and is fu...

So... "Canucks Young Guns". :? Can someone remind me why this thread was named that? :eh: Per, if you ever make it to Vancouver these boys are gonna take you on a tour of the old East Van Dumps  Soon enough you'll be wearing steel toed boots and kicking aside the needles on the sidewalk like a...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Pretty simple - rotate Ferland, Sutter, Beagle, Roussel, Sven through LTIR throughout the season.

Or, trade one of Sven or Sutter or have Ferland/Loui retire, and bingo.

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

Honestly, if Babs had stayed, they'd be in pretty much the same position by the all-star break: just on the outside, looking in. Dubas played his "fire-the-coach" card too early, the short term boost is over, and the Leaves have regressed back to where we all knew they'd be after their window closed...

Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"

Just heard this new national hockey show on Sportsnet 650, when did that start? First episode I listened to, they did an in-depth interview with Columbus GM Kaakalaamadingdong. I have to say, I'm quite impressed - its about time we had a nationally syndicated hockey talk show that isn't just Leaves ...

Skyo's checked out of this thread because we finally have his PPQB, he doesn't have any more fantasies or pipe dreams

Re: Canucks Young Guns

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that we won't see a blockbuster trade from Benning. Doesn't seem to be his style. And I'm okay with that. I agree, no blockbusters, and maybe even not moving out the farm/press box pieces like Benn, Schaller, Baerstchi (which would clear over $6 mil in cap space). ...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

If Juolevi can come out of nowhere and play half decent defense in Vancouver thats huge. Theyre going to need a few affordable assets with upside like that once Hughes and Pettersson get their 10 million dollar paydays Juolevi, Podkolzin, Hoglander, Rafferty, Woo and Lind could be the difference ma...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

I'm not so sure after two years of toiling in the K in empty arenas, flying sketchy planes, and not knowing if your team will make payroll while being treated pretty poorly, that Tryamkin would be so quick to run back there over the AHL.
