Just to chime in on Gillis fiasco dealing with Luongo: MG: "We decided to create a culture that was borne out of science, " Gillis said of Vancouver's solution to the travel challenge facing west-coast franchises. Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

The rumours at the 2019 draft had the Canucks trying to get barrie, but Sakic wanted overpayment from a western team (JV+Stech+pick? iirc) JB said nah-traded for JT Miller instead, and Barrie thought it was a done deal to Vancity, was pissed it didn't happen according to biznasty. Then when Barrie w...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

Out of Tanev, Ristolainen and Tyson Barrie, Barrie has the best metrics of the bunch, with the most points, generally the team does better when he's on the ice and is producing, helping keep the puck in the opposition zone more often than not. Not only that he seems like he really wants to play in V...

LeBrun:
My understanding is that the NHL has cut the list of Hub cities to 6 teams from the original 10.

The list still includes all three Canadian cities. My sense is Vancouver and Edmonton rank ahead of Toronto.

Obviously Vegas remains in the mix.

Re: 2020 NHL Draft

How many teams make any noise in the post season that exclusively roll with a group of kids around the same age? It seems to me that outside of the 80s coil i cant recall any. Chicago maybe? Pens? There appears to be a point where successful teams decide to move picks and add vets to compliment a y...

LOL Myers Edler Hughes Risto/ Barrie Is fucking way worse than they just had but more expensive Don’t quit your day jobs  LoL like our defense currently is any better than that. Tanev is likely to see only 60-65 games a season from here on out, he's obviously playing through pain in his contra...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

Did he? I didn’t bother to look it up. He’s not a bad player from my limited viewings of him but I’m not giving Virtanen up for him. If Jake has to be dealt I’d prefer a picks only deal. If they are bound and determined to take the big ticket off of Buffalo’s hands, they need to send some of the de...

David Pagnotta:
"Vancouver, Edmonton, and Toronto are all still in the mix.

Toronto isn't necessarily the front runner among the Canadian cities.

The NHL is going for the best and safest possible cities, regardless of time zone."

With Ontario/Toronto spikes in Covid-19, that might nudge the bar closer to Edmonton or Vancouver for the next Hub city.

Re: Canucks Contracts

Maelstrom is a top 10 goalie. There aren’t 20 guys as good as him and there isn’t many guys as good as him available in UFA. He will get more than 5 million easily. The Canucks "discount" is probably at around $5M - $5.35M AAV x 3-4 years. But as an UFA Marky will likely get around $5.5M - $6M x 6 ...
