The negative tone of some Vancouver newspaper columnists has been evident since Nonis got shit canned and Gillis gave his infamous first press conference about the Canucks being far from a contender, that the previous GM left the franchise in bad shape and had difficulty acquiring players, and that ...

I don't believe Mattias would accept the captaincy, even if offered. He wore an A several years ago, but requested that it be passed onto someone else. Ohlund is not into everything that comes with being a Vancouver captain, and I'm sure this was just reinforced by witnessing the challenges that Nas...

Couldn't disagree more with you guys. When Brian Burke arrived in Vancouver, the Canucks were coming off a season in which they finished 2nd last overall. He took them from a basement dweller that was run into the ground by Keenan, and after a few seasons got them back in the playoffs. Before Burke,...

David Pratt fired by Vancouver Province for plagiarism

Looks like the guy who is always screaming at callers to his radio show to "do their homework" has been caught not doing his. The Vancouver Province newspaper canned him for lifting passages from Sports Illustrated in one of his articles and now he looks pretty foolish. http://www.straight.com/artic...

Who is David Pratt and why is he on the Team (1040)?

Thought I'd ask a thought-provoking question. Who is David Pratt? Exactly why is he on the Team 1040 radio station since he spends most of his time getting shit-faced sitting in the bar? He doesn't seem to be a scorer. He doesn't seem to be a tough guy. He apparently can drink his face off. Who is t...

Coloumbe ... liability or weapon?

There seems to be quite a range of feelings about the current value of Patrick Coloumbe to the Canucks. Personally, I think he is in way over his head and (I never thought I would say this) I'm starting to look forward to Fitzpatrick's return (if it means that Coloumbe is no longer in the line up). ...

The NA picks by Delorme are ... and a defenseman that was traded to the Ducks, can't remember his name. Skinner The weakness as I see it is the Pro scouts. Lorne Henning and who else i don't know, likley Smyl. They provide the data on Pro picks for trade and FA's . They certainly hit pay dirt with ...

Toronto Sun: "Naslund most overrated player"

"Most overrated player in hockey? Try Markus Naslund of the Vancouver Canucks." I disgree wholeheartedly with this quote near the end of the attached article, but it is interesting to see that Naslund's stock is falling among the media hacks that cover the eastern league (the same guys who rarely g...

I read the orginal article in the Vancouver Province and came away with the feeling that once again the media is trying to make a bigger thing of this than it really is ... as tantalum says, Coloumbe is almost certainly on cloud 9 right now, and not grousing about Nonis and vowing to screw the Canuc...

Edler sent down BUT Coloumbe stays ... Why?

Anyone else find it strange that, of the two, Edler is the one sent to Manitoba and Coloumbe remains a Canuck? Based on their handful of games as Canucks, Edler showed a lot more, had the TV commentators gushing, and was surprisingly steady and poised. Coloumbe, on the other hand, has been less effe...

You have got to be kidding me. Most people are putting far too much pressure on this guy, no wonder its a complete graveyard. The guy can't stop every puck, nobody can, and with the amount of tip ins going in, it's only a matter of time til the bounces start going his way. Just ignore this Jamesown...

Re: Is this a case of AV or a DN problem child

DN signing of Chouinard, Santala, Cooke Bulis and Fitzpatrick, ham strung him and preventing him with other opportunities. ON COOKE I don't like any of those signings Fred, except that I wouldn't include Cooke in that group. I like Cooke a lot and wonder if people wouldn't be so hard on him in this...

10 Most Disappointing Players so far

Of this list of the 10 most disappointing players, THREE are ex-Canucks that Nonis had the sense to cut ties with.
