Re: AV Saying that Hodgson is not injured?

It seems prudent that AV should have kept his PR muzzle on while commenting on Cody's back investigation. I suppose AV opens this up to be a 'bad omen' (which is then connected to all the past bad juju in our minds) by putting some personal spin in his response. As far as the media goes, if AV had s...

Re: AV Saying that Hodgson is not injured?

Cody had to 'go for it' or forego a chance to make the 'nucks this year. He tried and by his own admission wasn't quite right (even though the team docs cleared him - that means there was nothing obvious and he probably wouldn't further aggravate it by playing) . AV is not going to go against team d...

Re: BREAKING NEWS - Canucks and Luongo agree to an extension

Why would a player get paid for retiring? When you retire, you walk away and unless your contract was signed over 35, then its done. How about 1 year at $10 million. Sure its like a signing bonus, but it's also seems like an ego stroke for Lou. He can put the 8 figure salary notch on his belt (even ...

Re: Canucks prospects that you feel never got a fair shot...

I wouldn't consider Baumgartner a prospect. He was in his late 20's when he came to Van. Interesting that he was sent down 'accidentally' to the minors... never heard that.. nonetheless, he got a huge (for him) offer from Philly and i doubt he regrets the windfall that came to him by signing there. ...

Re: HUGE clerical error in Chi?

I'm concerned about the D without Ohlund. Bieska and Edler didn't handle extra minutes very well. They seemed most effective when they had modest minutes. When Salo or Ohlund were out of the lineup, the extra minutes seemed to push the other D out of their effective zones. Salo seems almost certain ...

Re: Not looking Good for the Sedins

One thing about the long term contract - it doesn't seem like it would be up to Gillis alone, to have the final say on that. I don't remember exactly how many years contracts can be insured, but if i was an owner, that would be the limit for my GM to offer without owner approval. So if the Canucks g...

Long term solution for Sedins?

A front loaded long term contract could make sense for the Sedins. They get a big payday now and their cap hit is lower annually. They are durable and steady and interested in staying in Van. It would make a lot of sense for them. I''m thinking 10 years with an annual cap hit of $4.5million. They ge...

Re: Abbotsford gets it's AHL team( done deal)

I just can't get the idea of this being a Flames farm team. It would be so synergistic if this was the Canucks farm team. Can you imagine the bond developed when young players are playing for a local team. I know the Moose are well established with the Canucks and definitely a positive attribute, bu...

Re: Canucks bring in FA college forward

Did he go to the Moose? Anyone see where he went? just curious canucks.com answered my question today: As the newest member of the Vancouver Canucks prospects pool, Eric Walsky is looking to make a big splash right away. Walsky was signed by the Canucks on March 20 and reported to the Manitoba Moose...

Re: Can someone please explain why...

There's a slow motion replay on youtube (HNIC footage) which shows it going off of O'Brien's stick. My impression is that Tikhonov swung at the puck and O'Brien stiffened his hands (can stone get more stiff?) to block a possible stick check at the same time he was trying to take control of the puck....

Re: Can someone please explain why...

It looks like Tikonov swung and hit O'Brien's stick, which flipped the puck (off of O'Brien's stick) to the net.

Re: Doesn't look good on the Rangers

Apparently they are changing the rules for this contingency. TSNs Bob McKenzie reports: In other business, the NHL will be seeking approval from the NHL Players' Association to amend the Collective Bargaining Agreement to allow for compensatory draft picks to be awarded in the event of the death of ...

Re: Doesn't look good on the Rangers

Whatever may be the case, whatever the league rules will set a precedent. This has never happened before, and I think there is an ambiguity in the rule because it doesn't rule out death. The rule doesn't make the distinction between theory and reality. In reality Cherepanov has passed away, but in ...

Re: Avery

I was just wondering if Bettman and company are hypersensitive about this due to publicity surrounding the Frost circus? It's probably affecting their take on this incident. Although i'm thinking Bettman has been looking for a way to get Avery since last springs playoffs.
