Re: Canucks Young Guns

Recent article on where an NHL franchise could happen. I don't agree with the final analysis but the read is decent; https://www.sportsinsider.com/next-city-to-get-a-nhl-hockey-team-betting-odds/ My own opinion is Quebec City will support a team; A winning team , only. C- Atlanta? What is this, thr...

Re: Offseason grades & Load Management

Just the less ice time Edler and Tanev get, the better the odds they stay healthier for the long run to the playoffs where we need everyone the most. Anything to keep a healthier team, enough injury excuses. If he's still around, I was thinking Greener should not play Tan-man (aka Glass-man) in bac...

Re: Offseason grades so far

I'm just spit-balling here, but I'm of the opinion that Tanev should still return a 2nd rounder and a prospect at this point. The idea was to add depth, trading Tanev now doesn't make sense, particularly as Myers isn't the same type of player and Benn can't handle those kind of minutes. As for next...

Re: Offseason grades so far

The only knock on Tanev is his durability, or lack there of. Chances are by the TDD he will be on IR. He is our best shot blocker and a key shut down guy. Forget offence, it isn’t his game. At this juncture we are better defensively with him but to go off script about making the playoffs, if we cou...

I didn’t say a fucking thing about tanking

Yes, important point. I don't want to tank anymore (well, not unless we're far out of a playoff position by Feb, then tank back on).

Just not ready to give away first rounders.
We didn’t give away a first rounder, we got a top 6 winger back

Re: Offseason grades so far

What else is needed Blob? Cherry gave a good overview of the team today vs a team 10 years ago. Yes some things have to fall into place but we wont know until Christmas if the deal JB did this summer is working out. I am not saying the team is a contender but it is good enough to make the playoffs....

Re: Offseason grades so far

Didn’t say it was bad. There are some nice pieces here. But they need more. The stud all situations d man isn’t in the system yet. This is the biggest problem with the Canucks and has been for a long, long time. And it is the biggest problem for most teams, because there are between 10-20 of these ...

Re: Offseason grades so far

Still missing some pieces Boss. Need long term continuity Some of those pieces are in the system, pod, rathbone, lind, gadjovich, macewen, hoglander, madden, dipietro, woo, Lockwood, joulevi. Out of that group I bet at least 2 will be impact players, and probably a couple more can be cheap depth. A...

Rumors are the Canucks are shopping Brandon Sutter----650am today. Sounded like he should be healthy this year, if we ca...

Re: Offseason grades so far

Benning hasn't done anything like Larsson for Hall, and I don't think that bad move can be equated to anything like what Benning has done this off-season. No. You're right. But it's the potential that scares me. I won't try to make parallels with the Hall for Larsson deal, those two are quite diffe...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

Which players did Elmer get for Boston? He played with mark Benning, Jim’s brother, chia was heavily involved with bruins prior to being officially hired. Who do you think he talked to regarding that draft? You think maybe he talked to his future assistant gm the guy that was running buffaloes amat...

“They were Gillis players cause Gillis re-signed them” - Blob

even though they were brought in by other GM’s like he says regarding Benning in Boston
Which players did Benning bring to Boston?
Do you know who chia played with at Harvard?
