Re: Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019

Nothing better than my avatar. Just add a puck to the stick and rink and bingo bongo bamo they’re done. It fits like a hoop round a barrel. Jumping gee willikers, it’s perfect.

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

Hughes was a good pick but the Canucks didn’t fill their two biggest needs for prospect depth. They still need a top line left winger and a top pairing right shot defenseman. If they could trade next years 1st and other assets for Brady Tkachuk and Noah Dobson, they should.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

I like the idea in principle, but it doesn’t address the biggest problem here which is the spoiled kids who get bought Lambos by their folks and rip around streets at 150+. They may not work and have any income. Unless you can fine based on Daddy’s wealth instead of income their is no incentive to s...

Re: What to do with Hughes

There will always be a place for smaller, faster, elite talents like Hughes, but a lot of the Canuck players are just smaller but not particularly faster or elite talents, like Gagner, Goldobin, Leipsic. They are just kind of average. While they score a few more goals than grinders. It doesn’t help ...

Re: What to do with Hughes

If Hughes ends up being able for to play like this at the NHL level he’ll be a star. That was an impressive display.
If Dahlin is another level above this, can’t wait to see Buffalo play, too.

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Funny how Russians never seem to last in Vancouver (Krutov, Larionov, Bure, Mogilny, Chubarov, Tryamkin all wanted out), but Swedes, since Gradin, often have full careers with the Canucks. Not sure that Larionov, Krutov and Almo want out though. In fact, Krutov wanted to stay, but he reported to ca...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Thank Per! Liked, ‘the “Swedish” team the Vancouver Canucks’. The Canucks have had lots of luck with Swedish players, hopefully it continues. Re: The Rebuild...

So next summer all the current left-sided defensemen need new contracts: Edler (UFA), Del Zotto (UFA), Hutton (RFA) and Pouliot (RFA). While the right side of the defense is very shallow as far as prospects are concerned, the left side of the defense is the deepest area for Canuck prospects. By next...

Re: Canucks Contracts

For Boeser I expect they’ll pay more for his UFA years, something like 7m for 6 years or 7.5m for 7 years or 8m for 8 years. Benning should do the 8 year deal. Boeser has a lot of character.

To the most tortured, 20 years is new. He’s a friggin’ pup.

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Just hoping one of Gaudette or Pettersson get one of the centre spots along with Horvat, Sutter and Beagle. I’d hate to see Gagner or Granlund get in a centre spot over either of them.

Re: What to do with Hughes

None of the right-sided D, and everyone of the left-sided D have contracts that end after this coming season (Edler, Hutton, Del Zotto, Pouliot). With all of the better D prospects (Juolevi, Hughes, Sautner, and Tryamkin) left-handed, the left side could be completely turned over in the next 12 mont...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

I don’t think much will happen over the rest of the summer. Trade market seems dead. I expect the roster is pretty well set for the new season now that everyone is signed, though they’ll be some competition for jobs at training camp. Hopefully the kids win jobs and a vet or two is waived if there is...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

That’s interesting HW. If the disagreement is more between Linden and Benning than Linden and ownership, I speculate the team will get younger faster now, and most of the placeholders will be moved before this season is over. The rebuild continues. If the disagreement were between Linden and ownersh...
