Re: Temporary hockey discussion thread

Hanifin signs for $7.35M AAV. I think that's a pretty fair comparable to FH17. Plus, Hronek has one more season of RFA, so it should lower his contract a little. I agree that Hanafin is a pretty comparable player to Hronek. But note Hanafin's contract has 6 years of no trade, and is modified no tra...

Re: OTL-GDT Coyotes @ Canucks Apr 10 7:30 pm SN Pac

The 3-1goal that benched Hughes for a while woke the sleepyheads out of their slumber. The team has the ability to turn it on but need to start turning out at the drop of the puck. ... Lafferty seems to be slipping DiGiuseppe over Podkolzin? Tocchett is weird ... The Coyotes are a team of the futur...

Re: GDT: Canucks host rags Nov 2 - 7pm - SN1

What I've noticed about Pettersson is he stops skating when he has the puck now. He used to be shifty and create alot of space/separation by dancing guys one on one, taking pucks to the net. This is a good observation. And the one period in the last 6 that Pettersson has looked good, he was making ...

Re: World Juniors 2021

Canada-Finland; USA-Sweden. These should be great games. Both games are to win the group, but the USA-Sweden game is way more important — really for all four teams. I’m not sure the tiebreak rules if they draw in regulation and USA wins in overtime and Russia, Sweden, and USA end up with 8 points, b...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Point was UW, that the shitty contracts have fucked the team more than COVID. Could have easily retained Tanev and Toffoli without a couple of the useless pieces of shit taking up space on the 4th line. Yes, there are more than Tanev and Toffoli’s contracts in bad contracts. But then you missed my ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

The thing is, Beagle earned a sweet retirement contract for all his years of loyal service to the Caps culminating in a Stanley Cup. When Washington didn't have the room to make that happen it was awful thoughtful of Jim and Mr Aquilini to step up with that offer. Players notice that sort of thing....

Re: Canucks Contracts

They’ll need to whittle that down by seven to start the season leaving them with 23 on the roster and 6 on the taxi squad. Those seven, unless they are awesome at camp, will likely be Michaelis, Lockwood, Gadjovich, Elliot, Brisebois, Woo, and Teves. Hopefully they have a Utica team to play on this...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Oh ya that guy. :hmmm: Hes another one of those enigmatic players with all the tools but limited hockey sense. Correct. It isn’t just that he is a poor defensive player, he looks lost. He is a chaser, with no concept of assignments. At least that’s what I saw in the brief call up with minimal ice a...

Re: Canucks Contracts

Sven as a bubble call up may be a role for him. In Utica, Vancouver gains ~$1M cap relief. Is signing a cheap vet looking for a job a better option? That depends on what is on the market shelves. the stiffer competition he face is from a developing rookie. Are the Canuck's resources better utilized...

Re: Canucks Contracts

This is not anissue. It is a doldrums of "summer" drivel to take up space in the column. I do with the best for Sven though These vet-with-a-chance-at-redemption or prospect-looking-great! articles write themselves, don't they. Baertschi's production last season adjusted-to-the-NHL was very similar...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

I feel you aren't recognizing that Nate Schmidt is one of the very best skating d-men in the league. He is a legitimate 2-way stud back there whereas Tanev was quite one dimensional and the versatility of adding a talent like NS to a group that was sorely lacking in this specific area will have a d...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Alright Canucks fans, its been a long fucker of an offseason but its looking like we are go for hockey Jan 13. We've had months of arguing about Mick being Gohmert, does Chef look like the scorpion singer, is blobs bald spot bigger than a tea saucer, is SKYO throwing g*ys off of rooftops with UK bu...

I'll go on record as not sold on Hoglander developing into a productive NHL'r. Outside the flashy lacrosse move, where is the finish? Buckets of effort though. I won't be upset if he proves me wrong. From what I’ve seen, I’m with you, at least as a top 6 guy. I think his future is as a honey badger...

A view from a south of the border hono_rary Canadian. From least to most hated. Winnipeg. They’ve built a fun team to watch and have no more love from the hockey gods than the Canucks. Ottawa. They were a lot like the Canucks in the 2000s with Hossa and Alfie and Spezza. Good talent but never quite ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

I noticed at the awarding of the Cup how surprisingly well-spoken [Bettman] was when he isn't getting booed. I am always impressed by the fact Bettman speaks through the boos as if they don't exist. Its not easy to do that. I also think its weird that he is so hated in a world where fans seemed to ...
