Re: We're All Doomed!™ (the Conquest, War, Famine, and Death Thread)

And you keep saying there is overreporting, but as a comparisson between the number of weekly deaths in the USA in 2020 to historic data shows, there is severe underreporting of covid-19 deaths. Either that or something unknown is killing thousands of people. I would expect some of this is underrep...

Re: NHL Season suspended - Now what?

. I'm choosing to believe we give up the pick in 2021... I’m thinking there is better than 50% chance the season and playoffs are done. If that happens the interesting questions for the Canucks are do they surrender their first round pick if they don’t make the playoffs? If there are no playoffs th...

Re: Meanwhile, on the other side of the pond 2019/20

4 goals and 1 assist by Dahlén tonight as his Timrå annihilated Almtuna 11-1. That brings him to 73 (33+40) points in 48 games. :mex: Linus Karlsson scored a goal as Karlskoga beat Södertälje. Brings him to 35 points in 45 games. :| Any updates on Per Olov Brasar? I was wondering about Libor Polasek.

Re: GDT: 02/25/20; Canucks vs Canadiens>4:00PM>SNETP

One thing missing. Jake helped save the game. Deceptive shot. Price had that WTF look. True.... Jake had that WTF look for a second, too. Like WTF, why are they letting me get this close? It still took a heck of a shot and a bit of good fortune to score there, but if it flops up and out instead of ...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

Lots of shutouts and a middling save percentage means less quality starts. Could be, but you also said Fleury can't "steal games" like Lehner can. Stealing games implies an above-expected performance by the goalie, which is also reflected in the shutout stat. I have no other idea of how to quantify...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

Last years his save percentage was 23rd among goalies with 20 games. (21st if you go by 30 games, which would then include all starters, 1B starters, and guys who won the starting job during the season). This year he is 38th in save percentage among goalies who have appeared in a third or more of t...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

[quote=ESQ post_id=374310 time=1582649460 As for the Knights, don't dismiss the impact Lehner might have. Fleury is not above average any more (and rarely was, though I like the guy), Lehner is. Lehner can steal games. It will be interesting to see the deployment. I totally disagree. Fleury was the...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

After the TDD, I think the Canucks received the best player amongst Pacific teams. I think Toffoli will have a bigger impact than Martinez, and the Oil and Flames just added depth pieces (paying up futures rather than getting them UFA, but that's a different thread!). However, the loss of Markstrom...

Senators trade Jean-Gabriel Pageau to Islanders for conditional 2020 1st-round pick, 2020 2nd-round pick, conditional 2022 3rd-round pick Pageau is a rental. Responding to myself....Missed that NY resigned. For 6 years and $30M!!! That doesn't make it different than a rental. Can't believe the open...

Senators trade Jean-Gabriel Pageau to Islanders for conditional 2020 1st-round pick, 2020 2nd-round pick, conditional 2022 3rd-round pick This is the crazy overpayment of the day. The conditional third, I think, is if the Islanders win the Cup. So that's nothing. The first rounder is lottery protec...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

If "this generation" of players is really that soft, then maybe the coach should just take away their phones? Fuck that shit - these guys are making millions (except for ELC players) and should have enough fucking motivation to make adjustments to their attitudes, and if a coach wants to (and shoul...

Re: Canucks add Toffoli (Schaller, Madden, 2nd, cond 4th)

My two cents on the trade: (1) The playoffs are in sight (but not locked down), the playoffs are wide open. Go for it. (2) Second rounders don't return all that much with regularity. See my post on this, http://canuckscorner.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=348985#p348985 , where I estimate that less than...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

Stanley Cup History has proven you only need 2-3 elite players from drafting high at the most. Penguins (Crosby, Malkin), Chicago Toews, Kane), Washington (Ovechkin, Backstrom). Sometimes only 1 like St. Louis (Petrangelo) and LA (Doughty). The rest comes from timely good trades and signings and go...
