Yeah the Leaves, Flames, and Oilers can groan away. The mongoloids are already rationalizing why Tanev's 4x4 is way better than Schmidt's 5x 5.95. As Canucks fans are rationalizing whether Schmidt's a better fit at 5x$5.95 than OEL at 7x$8.25 I like it better this way. Good for Benning to pull this...

Schmidt is an upgrade on Tanev. Mission accomplished; top 4 upgraded. Patience people..... Both the team and Holtby got what they wanted with this contract, in my opinion. We want a short term goalie to play in tandem with Demigod that can satisfy the expansion draft requirements. Yes our goaltending took a hit with Marky departing, but Holtby is probably the best UFA goalie after Marky. ...

From his point of view and at this point in his career, it had to be about the money AND term. He done real good. Think of it this way; We know his weaknesses .. ;) Even if we had that kind of money to throw around, that was a bit too much and 2 years too long, I think. I have no issues with Marky ...

Next, hole on defense. However I think it's better if we wait for this need. Bargains can be had for those who wait during UFA signing frenzy. We need cap efficiency more than anything else long term.
