Re: Canucks Young Guns

Recent article on where an NHL franchise could happen. I don't agree with the final analysis but the read is decent; https://www.sportsinsider.com/next-city-to-get-a-nhl-hockey-team-betting-odds/ My own opinion is Quebec City will support a team; A winning team , only. C- Atlanta? What is this, thr...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

This one is a head scratcher. Neal has 4 years left at $5.75M. Looch has 4 years left at $6M. Neal stands a better chance of keeping up with Edmonton's top-6 forwards in terms of speed, but that's about it. I feel like Calgary is making out like gangbusters here. They get stronger, scarier (in the s...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

That's a good question actually. Ever since 2004 it felt like Calgary always thought they were a piece or two away and never actually pulled the plug on the roster, they just keep rolling out a revolving core. They got lucky with Gio turning into the player he is, but they really haven't rebuilt. T...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

We'll, Gio was an excellent defenceman on a crappy team. Last year he was a ppg, which is probably one of the top-10 best offensive seasons by a true Dman in the last decade (actually, maybe I should be more careful and double check that, since Meds is firing on all cylinders this morning!) :...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

This won't go over well, but thinking about the Canucks post their 101 point season which saw them go out to Ferland, I mean the Flames in 6 games, if the Flames either don't make the postseason or go out early again in the post season, is it too soon to start tearing it down and rebuilding? Take c...

Re: 2019/20 Pacific Division

The Flames are still going to trade one or more of Frolik, Brodie, Jankowski or Neal (don't see anyone wanting Neal). I think Brodie will fetch a decent return. Frolik might get a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I hope they keep Jankowski as he has turned into a great penalty killer. The key is what they wi...

Re: Offseason grades so far

I think whats lost here is that Miller isnt just you run of the mill 2nd/3rd scrub. He is a dynamic offensive asset that was stuck behind some future hall of famers and other terrific players in tampa. With all due respect it's not lost on me, he is a good player. Just questioning if good enough at...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

I looked at cap friendly and some assumptions of what JB will do next summer: Levio - gone Schaller - gone JV - same or small increase Motte - gone Tanev - same - assume they keep him or replace with an equivalent player costing the same Stecher - same or equivalent player Markstrom - increase So a...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

This mutual termination seems a bit dodgy. What player has done this before? I’m sure Bettman will find a way to punish Vancouver Yeah, I feel like if there was a way to mutually terminate a contract and simply re-sign with another team then Gillis and Luongo would have done just that, or Benning w...

Re: Offseason grades so far

I would say last years coming out of nowhere for EP, the year before Brock lighting it up and Hughes impressive 5 games was your hint at whats coming. But where's the hint of team progression, moving up 3 spots near the bottom of the Standings? If we made a jump like the Habs did and just missed th...

If only Canucks' marketing were clever enough to come up with it (Doc, go apply). Perfect tagline for the upcoming year.

Doc's marketing ability is the reason why McDonald's can say over 99 billion served.....he can never leave.

Re: Let's get creative with Erikkson...

4th period, Sept 25, 2018: Ottawa tried to trade Zack Smith last season and this summer. He’s now on waivers with 3-years left on his deal. Bit of a surprise, frankly. $3.25M x 2 left on deal, no bonuses, 10 team no trade to clause. Eriksson for Smith straight up. SOLD!! dang, Hawks traded Anisimov...

Re: Offseason grades so far

Still missing some pieces Boss. Need long term continuity Some of those pieces are in the system, pod, rathbone, lind, gadjovich, macewen, hoglander, madden, dipietro, woo, Lockwood, joulevi. Out of that group I bet at least 2 will be impact players, and probably a couple more can be cheap depth. A...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

Loui was good is Dallas, sometimes a return to the place where you were successful does wonders. He has a track record of doing well on the PP and has great hands around the net for picking up the garbage, with weapons like Benn, Seguin, and Radulov, pumping pucks around the zone and towards the ne...
