Re: Canucks Contracts
This is true. He does bleed green and blue and heart can carry a mediocre player much farther than skill without heart. That said, Lloyd indicated that Stetchers' analytics are in line with a #4/5 on a good team...this i would love to see in some sort of verfiable format. The eye test tells me that...

Re: Canucks Contracts
Holy fuck Lloyd you need to stay out of the giggle jar more than i do even. No offense but i pretty well disagree with your assessment of tiny troy word for word. Hes fucking brutal defensively and coughs up more pucks than any dman Ive seen in canucks colours in a long time. He is consistently pus...

Re: Canucks Contracts
I think Stecher has a bit of an identity problem on this board. People see him as an offensive defenseman who hasn't figured out a way to put up points reliably, but that's not what he is. His under-rated smarts, quickness, excellent positioning, top notch gap control, and tireless work ethic, combi...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Oh the pundits! . . . Hockey "experts" are amazing beings, how someone can think we are currently building for a run is beyond me. We are trying to make the playoffs, which I have no issue with at all. In the meantime our roster turnover has been unreal and we are putting a lot of effort into devel...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Since it's summer and everyone goes crazy, here, I'll show you crazy; I would like to see the league return to 2 year EL. I would like to see the league put a maximum term of 5 years on all contracts,(no home town extra year). I would like to see the league put a max hard cap of 8 million per year,...

Re: The Great Jim Benning Debate!
Sooo, 3rd-line center with sub-50% FO and 14 goals/34 points is asking for $4.5 million . Again, maybe the Sutter contract ain't that bad? :drink: It was always a reasonable deal. Not a bargain by any stretch, but much better than trading for a guy, only to lose him as a UFA looking for a competiti...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I have no problem giving up picks for players who are just making their way into the league. In a cap world, the early, improving, and cost controlled years of a career are the most valuable from a cost/benefit perspective. Typically, the real crime with giving up picks is losing out on those years....

Meanwhile... the Canucks #113 out of the 122 teams, second last to the leaves in the NHL. Hmph.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Oilers take the draft lottery and continue their quest to amass the maximum possible number of first overall picks without a winning record.

Re: Welcome to the Refugees from "Central"
I also found this new home through that topic on Calpuke -- yes, I also feel dirty -- but for the first time Calpuke has now served an actual purpose beyond being a laughing stock for the rest of the hockey world. :eh: I was an on-and-off type of Canuck Central poster for roughly the last decade: mo...
