Re: 2021 Draft Class

Right now I think the Canucks would be picking 7th, assuming they didn’t fall in the draft lottery.

However, with them having to play 19 games in 31 days, I wouldn’t be surprised if they fall to bottom 3 in the standings. Looking at the standings right now, only Buffalo is out of reach IMO.

I really thought it would happen last year but instead they went for it.

This year, well, it would be nice but can’t see the Canucks making any moves now.

Now if only the Flames could play a team only hours after they had a memorial service for a dead teammate everyday.

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

What is Beagle's injury? Some people have said that he is done for the season and perhaps career. If he is, then that makes this signing a bit more understandable as it helps maintain some 'veteran leadership' in the team. Not saying I like this signing now, I don't, I think it is to much money but...

Re: Brandon Sutter extension

How long and how much? With the amazing Jay Beagle out of action well into next year, there is a need for centre depth and foundational type leaders. Adam Gaudette hasn’t panned out. Brandon Sutter’s contract runs out at the end of the year. I would be shocked if he isn’t brought back. 4 years x 3....

The contract will include a full no-trade clause in the first year, a modified seven-team no-trade clause in the second year, and no protection in the third year, reports The Athletic's Thomas Drance. The two sides also agreed the club will protect Pearson in the upcoming expansion draft even thoug...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

I don't like the trade protection. He's a solid two way guy, nothing spectacular, streaky scorer. Two thing in his favour are he fills the long search for a guy to play with Horvat rather than the endless revolving door and if you flat cap look for a replacement, you're looking at the Josh Leivo's ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Not surprised he was re-signed but for that dollar amount? huh? In isolation it is a bad signing, guess I will wait to see how the rest of the summer goes before commenting on the job Benning is doing. 1 thing I know for sure now, Benning is staying on as GM, he ain't going anywhere after this seaso...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

So we're at 6 'postponed' games so far, and I only see 3 spots where they could stick games (the rest would have to be after our last scheduled game on May 8th). The last league games are scheduled for May 11. That would give us 2 more spots. So 'in theory', if they don't cancel any more games, we ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Given that players recalled from Utica would have to undergo a 14 day quarantine I guess Jim better start calling them all up like yesterday. As it is anyone called up today would not be eligible to play until April 22. The problem too of course is that there is no covid cap relief so the Canucks m...
