Re: Canucks News N Notes 23-24 Playoff Edition

Yeah who knows. I guess if it got worse as he went they probably didn't realize he could use the rest until Demko and Lindholm were already injured. on Boeser: Jeff Paterson @patersonjeff Boeser says a shot block in Game 1 vs EDM led to a bruise that caused some complications and led to clotting iss...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 23-24 Playoff Edition

And, there it is. Thomas Drance @ThomasDrance Elias Pettersson says he's been playing with a bad knee since January. "The longer it went, the more pain I felt," Pettersson said. Doesn't require any procedure this offseason, just time to rest. #Canucks 107 point pace (per 82 gp) over his first 55 gam...

Re: 2024 Offseason - moving forward

To thoughts from different sides of the Mikheyev conversation….. If the Canucks dump Mikheyev then that salary goes elsewhere. Likely a free agent because we don’t have enough depth in the cupboard pushing for that spot. So, why would any team want this player when they could simply sign the free a...

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas

Allvin should see if Ottawa will listen on a deal centered around Hronek (sign-and-trade) for Quinn's pal Brady Tkachuk. You should post more. I'd forgotten about the sharp wit. Cheers don, it's nice to visit - after about a decade I'm feeling ready to be delusional about this team again, so maybe ...

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas

Oh, we'd just go out and hit on 100% of our free agent targets.

Mikheyev/Hronek/Silovs for Tkachuk/Chychrun

Sign Tanev, Pesce, Myers for no more than $14m AAV combined

Sign Dakota Joshua to 4 years $8m

I thought running an NHL team was supposed to be difficult? :drink:

Re: 2024 Offseason - moving forward

Good call, even that ~$1.2m is more than I'd like to have on the books but unloading three quarters of his salary would be helpful for sure. We'd probably get nothing back (entire return goes to the team giving up a retention slot and $2.4m of cap space for 2 years) though.

Sens have a rookie GM, terrible defense (and aren't scared of offering $8m with term to mid defensemen), Canucks need a scoring forward with a nasty streak.

Re: 2024 Offseason - moving forward

I'd be looking to move Mikheyev for a similar white elephant player on the blueline, I don't really know who that is though. There are a few guys out there with similar money and identical term on teams that are probably looking to make changes.. Leddy in St Louis, Jensen and Trevor van Riemsdyk in ...

Re: Raking Leaves with David Ayers Zamboni

I don't want to toot my own horn, particularly because I don't usually have strong takes heading into the draft - but in 2014 I figured there was probably not much value in hanging onto that 6th pick. I wanted to trade up for Draisaitl (probably impossible) or down with Anaheim (10, 38, 55) where we...

Re: Post season wrap up.

Blob, to be perfectly honest I don't know. The core isn't big enough (in terms of the number of players and their size), the one guy built for the playoffs is probably at his peak right now and Demko can't stay healthy. I like this team, but in the cold light of day I'm not sure I'd bet the house on...

Re: Post season wrap up.

Well, it was a fun season with far more good than bad. On the one hand I liked the move to reward this group with some reinforcements because they were fantastic October to February, at the same time we don't have picks or prospects to spare and that's where the solutions to the problems that were s...

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas

It's a shame Utah won't want to be the league's cap graveyard anymore, hopefully Chicago and San Jose are looking for serviceable NHL players or we can find someone willing to exchange distressed assets for maybe a defenseman the team thinks they can get more out of. Mikheyev is probably our biggest...

Re: Rebooted - Which FA’s will be back for the 2024-25 season?

All interesting to think about for sure. Ideally, nobody counts their chickens before they're hatched.. that means no assuming Willander is a legit NHL guy in 2 years, no assuming Silovs means we don't need Demko, no assuming Demko stays healthy for that matter. But Allvin will be GM'ing with one ar...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 23-24 Playoff Edition

I dunno man, I have a hard time thinking Evander was calculating what to do with his feet while getting packed into the bench the way someone would stuff two weeks worth of clothes into carry on luggage. I'm annoyed about the star treatment Soucy is getting the business end of, but at the same time ...
