Contest: @Vancanucks “Suite” Social Media Giveaway

There is no doubt that the Vancouver Canucks get social media. They are leaders among sports franchises in interacting with their fans and using social media to do so. With that said, the Canucks have asked us to help spread the word about a new contest they are launching today that could see you win tickets to join Canucks social media staff, bloggers and other social media personalities in a suite at Rogers Arena for the Canucks final preseason game on October 1st versus the Edmonton Oilers.

As of today, the Canucks will be hiding a pair of faux tickets on two of 70 Canucks SkyTrain posters that are currently up within all stations on the Expo, Millennium and Canada Lines. An image of the tickets is attached below. Fans will need to locate these tickets and take a photo of themselves in front of the poster. They will then need to tweet their photo to @VanCanucks with the hashtag #ifoundthetix which will enter them to win. (Please note: the tickets will not be located on a poster that is across the tracks of a SkyTrain – they will be far away from the line itself).

There are eight spots available in the suite and here is the image you’ll be looking for:

Good luck everyone! Maybe we’ll be seeing you in the Social Media suite on October 1st at Roger Arena!

Here are the winners of our Visa “Hockey Love Hurts” $75.00 gift cards!

Earlier this year we gave away a Visa gift card for Visa’s Hockey Love Hurts promotion. We asked you to send in questions for Alex Burrows of the Canucks and he answered them in this video.

The eventual winner of the contest was a Canucks fan from Vancouver. Her prize was was Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals between the Canucks and Bruins and she talks about her experience in this video:

Our friends at Visa wanted to say thank you to our visitors by offering up another two $75.00 gift cards. These Visa gift cards work anywhere major credit cards are accepted. At the start of the Stanley Cup Finals we asked you to participate and we’re now happy to announce our winners!

Congratulations to our random winners: Erica Craig – @ericaleecraig on Twitter and Dilara L. who left a comment on the blog post!

Thanks to Visa for sharing their promotion with us and to all who participated!

Contest: Game 4 on the Jumbotron anyone?

Stanley Cup banner hangs from the rafters in Rogers Arena: Photo: Justine Galo

Since the contest for Game 3 garnered  good attention. Congratulations to Armit Gill of Coquitlam in winning to viewing party seats to Game 3. I’d like extend it for Game 4.  There are a few Canucks that could be possible candidates for the Conn Smythe Trophy.  My choice right now? It would probably Alex Burrows. He’s tied with Daniel Sedin for goals in the playoffs, for the Canucks with nine.  He’s scored timely OT goals to win a series and to put the Canucks up two games to none in the Stanley Cup Final.

1.Post a comment on here as to who your candidate would be, and why?

2. Cut/Paste or Retweet

As I did for Game 3, I will deliver your tickets right in your hand. I’ll announce the winner tomorrow afternoon on Twitter and on this page.

Good Luck and Go Canucks Go!

Contest: An Away Game, at Home *Game Three*

Watch Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals at Rogers Arena - Photo Credit: 604Now

Game 7 of the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals, then owner, Arthur Griffiths and the Canucks front office opened up Pacific Coliseum to have their fans watch the Canucks on a big screen. I was fortunate enough to be one of those 14,000 (or so)  people to be in the arena to watch the game. The result wasn’t what us Canucks fans were hoping for in 1994, but the experience that I had watching in our home arena, on a big screen, was an incredible one.  I believe proceeds from the ticket sales that night went to Canuck Place.

This year, Canucks Sports and Entertainment, are offering fans  a chance to buy tickets to watch Games 3 and 4 at Rogers Arena, on the Jumbo-tron.  You get to share an experience, like I did back in 1994, with your fellow fans in our home arena.  For just $10 dollars, and availability of the seats, you can watch your team on an away game, at home.  Does it really get any better than that when the boys are away? No, not really.  The best part about all of it is, the net proceeds of this event go to benefit the Canucks for Kids Fund.

Luckily for me, I was able to acquire a pair of tickets for Game 3 and here on Canucks Corner, we like to give them away to a lucky reader and fan of our site.  Want to watch the Canucks on the Jumbo-tron at Rogers Arena for Game 3?

Here’s how to do it:

A) Retweet or Post on Twitter:

I want to go to Rogers Arena to watch the Canucks on the Jumbotron for Game 3 via @Aviewfromabroad and @Canuckscorner

B) Post a comment below answering this question:

Which member of the 1994 Canucks team would you choose to watch the game with you and why?

We will announce the winner on Sunday, June 5th and I will deliver to tickets to the winner personally.

Good luck and go Canucks go!

Hockey Love Hurts: Win 1 of 2 $75 gift cards from Visa &

Hockey Love HurtsHockey Love Hurts is not a phrase that Canucks fans are used to hearing, at least over the past season, but for Christiane B. from Richmond, BC and Alan D. from Vancouver (who now lives in Calgary), that phrase has paid off. They are the two grand prize winners of Visa’s Hockey Love Hurts sweepstakes; a program that celebrated the passion and loyalty of Canadian hockey fans through the ups and downs of their favourite hockey team. In the contest, Visa cardholders were invited to pledge allegiance to their favourite NHL team and received prizes and offers when their chosen team didn’t do so well in certain aspects of the season (when hockey love hurt the most!). The grand prize was any NHL fan’s ultimate dream – tickets to a Stanley Cup Final Game!

Now Christiane and Alan are set to go to Canucks home games in the next week and we will be hearing from Christiane on our blog in a special Q&A video about her love for our dear Canucks and how excited she is to attend the game this Saturday.

As part of this promotion earlier this year we gave away a Visa gift card when we asked you submit questions for the Vancouve Canucks Alex Burrows. Our friends at Visa know that not everyone can get to experience the Finals from the luxury of the arena, so they want to make sure that hockey love doesn’t hurt for the rest of us – in the next week, two of our readers in Canada have the chance to win a $75 Visa Prepaid card!

For a chance to win one, here is what you have to do for a chance to win:

1) Post or RT this on Twitter (1 entry):

Hockey Love doesn’t have to hurt thanks to #Visa & #Canucks. RT for a chance to win a $75 gift card!

2) Leave a comment on this post telling us what you would spend your $75.00 on (1 entry).

We’ll follow up with a video and photos of the winner’s experience at Saturday’s game and announce the winners of the gift cards.

Good luck and GO CANUCKS GO!
